Jekyll Island is a barrier island off the coast of Georgia and is known as one of the Golden Isles of Georgia. The road leading to the Jekyll Island Club and historic district is lined with beautiful live oak trees.
The Jekyll Island Club Hotel was originally a hunting retreat built in 1888 for families such as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, J.P. Morgan and the Astors. Later abandoned, the Jekyll Island Club was restored to in 1986.
Jekyll Island's 240 acres of waterfront Historic Landmark District is ongoing with the restoration of the builidings on the grounds.
