kauai realtor: Kauai Realtor Looses License, Choosing a Kauai Realtor

The responsibilities of a real estate license are many. Every month the state of Hawaii puts out a bulletin to the RE licensees that includes Administrative Actions. As a self proclaimed Kauai real estate know it all, I like to read these stories to see what violations have occurred in my choice of profession. Most of them are the usual DUI cases. A DUI or OVUII is considered a criminal case and licensees are required to report the conviction to the state licensee board. Upon inspection I found 2 kitchens in this single famly zoned house. At a Kauai broker caravan a couple years ago I toured a house in Wailua Homesteads where the listing broker explained that the apartments located in the backyard “sheds” were non-conforming. “Excuse me” I said “there is nothing nonconforming about these units, they are illegal”.
The term non-conforming tends to be over used in Kauai real estate. (Probably because it sounds better then illegal). Non-conforming generally refers to structures that do not conform to current zoning laws but were built prior to the Kauai Comprehensive … (3 comments)

Happy Thanksgiving Kauai Style This Thanksgiving we celebrated at our cousins house in Anahola Kauai. It just so happened I sold them their Anahola house a little over 5 years ago. We often gather there for family celebrations.
