realtors: Kirkland home - Residential Photography - 03/15/10 04:02 AM
This home had some interesting features. The concrete counter tops and Island in the dining area are pretty unique to this property. Something I wanted to show off, but had to be careful with at the same time. Custom re-designs like this are perfect for the one person living there, but can be difficult to create a feel that will appeal to the masses. Visit My Website All Photos Copryright John G. realtors: Vuecrest home in bellevue - Luxury home residential photos - 03/10/10 03:49 AM
On occassion, I get clients that want to market with the less is more idea. This client will choose about 5 photos for her entire marketing campaign and use them to entice buyers to come by and see the home to get the real feel. For her, I shoot a bit wider than I would like, but it allows her to crop in to some small areas of the photo. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. realtors: Fall City Luxury Home - 03/08/10 01:12 AM
This home was really fun to shoot. Sometimes with large rooms your inclined to shoot wide to show everything in one shot. I had to fight that and remember to focus on some closer shots and try to capture the "feel" of the home. Granted there are times you just have to shoot with wide shot, but more often than not, the closer shots are more fun. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. realtors: Lake Forest Park Home - 03/03/10 04:20 AM
This was a large home with a very distinct wall color. I think the hardest part here was getting the color true to life. White walls are the easiest, yellows aren't bad, but the more delicate the color the harder it is to balance all the light between the interior lights, light from windows and light from other sources. Any difference in source light color will effect the color of your subject. That's why you'll notice colors in shadows have a tendency to lean toward blue. realtors: RiverTrail Condo in Redmond - 02/12/10 05:52 AM
This was a nice little condo to shoot. The Realtor brought in a stager to add just that little extra touch. This condo complex is located in the River Trail neighborhood in redmond, it's a nice little community. The challenge here was to create images that showed each area separately while also portraying a sense of space within the great room. realtors: Squak Mt in Issaquah. - 02/11/10 06:08 AM
Some great angles in this home. I really enjoyed showing how one room connects and flows into the next. This home is located in Issaquah on Squak mountain. You can see this little neighborhood way up on the mountains from just about anywhere in Issaquah. The views are spectacular from the master bedroom, but it was cloudy that day so I'll have to go back at another time. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. realtors: Beautiful home in Kirkland, Wa. - 02/08/10 01:07 AM
This was a cool shoot. The client wanted less "look how big the room is" and a more "intimate" representation of the home. I accomplished this by using less of a wide angle lens and zooming in just a bit. The other trick was lighting. Choosing an angle of light that compliments the room is very important. This home is located in East Bellevue down a private drive. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. Wilbanks Photography … (1 comments)

realtors: Queen Anne condo in Seattle, Wa. - 02/04/10 12:28 AM
This is a nice condo on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. A fun little shoot. There are views of Lake Union from a park nearby and a nice little patio to sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. The great room was a bit of a challenge given it's size and layout, but I think I did a pretty decent job. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. realtors: Views and interiors on different days - 01/28/10 08:45 AM
The views were shot on a sunny day and the interiors were shot on a cloudy day (home wasn't staged and ready). I then used Photoshop to insert the views into the windows. It took a little extra time since I wanted to stay true to the actual views (I'm pretty darn close) and avoid any issues of possible misrepresentation. This project was both fun and a creative challenge. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. Wilbanks Photography … (1 comments)

realtors: Nice home on Mercer Island's West side. - 01/18/10 04:44 AM
I loved shooting this one. Not a whole lot of photos, but it was worth the time. We chose to shoot later in the day to get a different feel to the photos. For the living room photo I could have light the stairway in the back but I chose not to. I wanted to keep the focus within the room instead of having the viewers eye pulled away from the main area. realtors: Small Seattle Home with Character - 01/13/10 01:26 AM
This little home in the Greenlake area of Seattle had some character and was fun to shoot. It was small so I had to make use of a wide angle lens to show as much of each room as was possible. It was difficult to light this home and it's rooms since there was limited space to put the lights and keep them from showing up in the photo. realtors: Nice, yet unusual home in Bellevue, Wa. - 01/10/10 03:53 PM
Some tight spaces required inventive angles in the kitchen. Climbing on top of the counters and squeezing against the wall seemed to help. While shooting the living room I tried to get tricky and light some newspaper in the fireplace. I made sure the flue was open but it was so cold in the room that, apparently, there was a downdraft. Smoke was a bit of an issue. Note to self! :) Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. Wilbanks Photography … (4 comments)

realtors: Interior Design Photography - 01/07/10 04:57 AM
Another interior design client asked me for a couple shots of a Living and Dining room. Red was a colour scheme that carried through both rooms and it was important to show that flow. I used a combination of wide angle lenses and more traditional focal length. These wide lenses have a very specific look when you're close to your subject. You either want to emphasize it or avoid it completely. Click here to see more photos from this shoot All Photos Copryright John G. Wilbanks Photography … (1 comments)

realtors: Renton Pan-Abode home - 01/05/10 04:20 AM
A couple days ago a client asked me to shoot a home she knew was going to be a challenge. It was a dark Pan-Abode home with limited lighting. As you can see from the photo, the sole source of light in the living room was one set of track lighting in the middle of the ceiling and some windows on a dark, gloomy Seattle day. The dark walls sucked up all the light.
I set up my lights and discovered that, with umbrellas, the rooms were still dark. I used a combination of lighting it with my photo lights and … (0 comments)

realtors: Veer Lofts, Seattle, Wa. - Vulcan Development Project - 01/03/10 12:43 PM
Last week I shot for an interior designer at Veer Lofts in Seattle; a Vulcan Development. Shooting for designers is different from shooting for a Realtor. Without a marketing template that I have to keep in mind, I can shoot more vertical shots than I normally would. I also focus more on the furnishings and artwork than the views out the window and relaying the size or flow of the rooms. It's nice to let the creativity flow a bit more. realtors: New Photography Project - 12/31/09 06:13 AM
Hi,
A couple days ago I photographed this home in Fall City.  The previous photographer over-saturated everything and the stager over-staged.  The home looked artificial and the owners were not happy with the results.
The Realtor brought me in to make the home look more like it actually does.   Be aware of photographers that make things look too artificial...people want realism.  They don't want to be disappointed because the home looks so different from the photos.
