Most Realtors and home buyers do not know that many areas of Ohio have NO inspections when building a new home. This means no one checks the builder to see if the home is built properly. To find out if your area has inspections you can look at the list here: http://www.com.ohio.gov/dico/docs/bbst_ResBldgDeptMasterList.pdf If not you may want to consider us to look at your new home. If you are doing new home construction inspections and do not know this information you ARE not doing a good inspection. Let me first start by saying that there are a ton of GOOD Home Inspectors out there. What I want you to do in this tough market is question every opinion that may sour one of your deals. A lot of Realtors®, the less experienced ones, assume that the information in the inspection report is correct, or at least credible. Why not, everyone is certified. Many of you Realtors® sell homes in areas that have no building departments. What you and your buyers may not know is that there IS a statewide code. This code is known as The Residential Code of Ohio. This code went in to effect on 27 May 2006. It applies to ALL new 1,2,3 family builds in Ohio RBI is one of the few companies that are certified on The Residential Code of Ohio.
