The audit rates in the data book are a  “snapshot” of activity in time. The data … (0 comments)

Haven’t Filed Your Taxes in a While? How Many Years Do You Need to File?

There are many reasons people do not file their tax returns. It does not matter if you have not filed your tax returns for one years or many years. The worst thing the taxpayers can do is ignore the problem, because this will result in getting notices/letters from taxing authorities.

If you would like to receive free list (either or short list) of steps … (3 comments)

tax payments: Tax Liability and Payments - 11/12/21 11:46 AM

The tax returns are filed either by taxpayer(s) or a  substitute tax return (SFR) by the IRS if the taxpayer failed to file one.  Then the return is accepted by the IRS, your tax liability is recorded in your account.  At this point, if your withholding is less than the liability, the IRS will send you a tax bill (Notice: CP14) and demand the payment. When you owe taxes to the U.S. Treasury and don’t pay, a claim … (0 comments)

Our tax system works like “pay as you go”. What  it means is that we pay taxes throughout the year as we work and earn money. It is true for both self-employed and salaried employees. It is accomplished by employer withholding, estimated quarterly payments or combination of both. Can you believe it that we just finished the 2020 extended tax deadline and are already thinking about the 2021 tax year? Reason I am bringing … (2 comments)

These are three different scenarios associated with these letters. A lot of people are happy and waiting for these letters especially when they are expecting a refund check from the IRS or State Department of Revenue.  Other times it is a different story, especially if the taxpayers were not expecting it. Then, they are fearful of what is in the letter and do not want to open it and find out. Lastly, the taxpayer knew it … (1 comments)
