Today NAR released that the pending home sales index was down 1.9% in February. While Thompson analysts were expecting a better reading, I am not overly concerned with this number. To me this is another Real Estate is local story... Is a 1.9% decline really all that terrible with the state of some housing markets? We all know Real Estate is local and there are some really week markets in the U.S. that I am sure are really hurting the average pending home sales on a national level. Thank you to ActiveRain for motivating me to continue to improve on the technologies I use to market myself and my listings. I think the ActiveRain Video Contest is great because it encourages agents to get out of their comfort zone by either trying new ideas and technologies, or by improving on what they are already doing. There was an interesting article in the Kansas City Business Journal about how the County Economic Research institute estimates that Johnson County Kansas is set to become the largest populated county in the Kansas City Metro by 2023 (based on projections from the Mid American Regional Council). If that growth holds true, that is good news for long term housing appreciation in Johnson County. While the growth would obviously be hinged on employment growth... The real key for Johnson County is not losing site of services such as schools, roads, and crime while be able to keep property taxes at reasonable levels.
