poconos: SELLERS: Clean Up Your Yard! - 06/19/18 04:23 AM
One of the challenges I face as a Realtor working in what is primarily a vacation home market is showing properties that look, for all intents and purposes, somewhat abandoned.
It's easy to forget the other home you own when you are busy living life in your primary location: your kids have activities, your job has demands, your main house requires attention. I get that - but when you have your vacation home on the market to try and sell it, it must take first priority, at least for a little while.
A home looks abandoned and uncared for when there are piles … (5 comments)

Because if you look at this beautiful lake front property in Northeast PA, you will fall hopelessly in love with the wooded setting and serene Paupackan Lake. This contemporary home is in excellent condition (truly...not an exaggeration!) and has the perfect blend of updated touches combined with rustic lake-house charm. Take a look if you must, but don't say I didn't warn you! I would love to show you all the nooks and crannies of this terrific home for sale - my favorite spot is the screened porch. poconos: Waterfalls in Northeast PA: Childs Park in Dingmans Ferry (Pike County) - 03/28/10 01:02 PM

Geo W. Childs State Park is located off Silver Lake Road and Park Road in Dingmans Ferry.  It is free to the public, and is a marvel to behold!  This delightful Pocono property was donated in the early 1900's by the widow of George W. Childs, with the condition that there always be public access. The park is part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
This is, by far, one of my favorite spots in Pike County.  The walking path is fairly easy with some moderate challenges. There are some steps near the end, not as many as … (0 comments)

poconos: Pest Control: Tuesday Real Estate Tip - 10/22/08 02:57 AM
Mice are such cute little creatures, when they are in a cage, running on their wheel or curled up into a warm, fuzzy ball, asleep in a pile of fluff.
But when they boldly stroll through your kitchen, uninvited and unwanted, brazenly swiping kibble from the dog’s food bowl, and hiding behind the refrigerator, they are no longer cute. They are a menace, they are a nuisance, and they need to be exterminated.
For years, my husband and I purchased those cheap little Victor Mouse Traps, and after scaring the dog by snapping it a few times, we’d smear some peanut … (5 comments)

poconos: PA Winters & Real Estate: Snow Tips for Sellers - 01/08/08 02:32 PM
I'm sure my readers have all been exposed to the "You Know You're From ______________ When..." email, that circulates around inboxes throughout cyberspace. You can fill in the blank with your home state. The one from Pennsylvania includes:
You know you're from Pennsylvania when "they call for snow" and everyone rushes to the store to buy bread and milk...
You know the four seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Construction...
Northeast PA (affectionately known as NEPA) is known for long winters (that said, today it was 60 degrees....I digress.) This section of NEPA - Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos - is also … (20 comments)

poconos: The Poconos are Snow Beautiful - 01/03/08 12:46 AM
On New Year's Eve morning, I had to go to Blooming Grove, as a buyer was interested in a cabin I have listed for sale. The previous evening, about seven to eight inches of snow had fallen over this section of The Poconos, coating everything in sight and softening all the harshness of winter.
Even though I am no fan of winter and cold weather (then why do I live here??!), there is something about new snow that makes winter more tolerable. Though last winter was mild, comparatively speaking, the lack of snow made it depressing, for me at least.
