However, they do know they enjoy the rolling hills and 1,200 acres of pristine treed community property.

When you consider it also borders the 2,100 acre Occoquan Reservoir, has a major Prince William County Golf and Marina Park, five pools. tennis courts and three shopping centers it is easy to understand why home ownership is considered a wise investment. Lake Ridge has been our home since 1985.

The barely visible Blue Heron fishing from the left side of the float, the man relaxing on the dock and the fishermen heading for the main part of the reservoir are all clear indicators the Occoquan Reservoir serves many constituencies - food source, relaxation and sport.

Unlike other Prince William County water access areas it is not at all unusual to see people in boats fishing on the Occoquan Reservoir during the cold winter months.

Lake Ridge is a 4,400 acre subdivision. The developers left 1,200 acres in heavily wooded common area. Since Lake Ridge also borders a 2,100 acre reservoir it is home to many animals such as deer, rabbits, possum, chopmunks, foxes, black bear, turtles, snakes and, of course, squirrels.
As you must know all those trees attract a wide variety of birds. Arthur and I go to great lengths to attract them to our part of the Lake Ridge forest. It makes the view from my office just a little more exciting. Our plan is working nicely.

lake ridge 2013: 2013 Began With Trout In The Ridgewood Pool - Now It's Barracuda!!! - 04/27/13 08:26 AM

Each year the Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association stocks the Ridgewood pool with 750 trout and hosts a fishout for Lake Ridge kids to enjoy during Spring Break.
When the fishout is over the pool is emptied and throughly cleaned and painted for the upcomng season.
Unlike the trout the Ridgewood Barracuda are not fish, but members of the Lake Ridge Swim Team.

At Least Tolerating Our Presence

Deer live in the wooded common area behind our home which connect to the thousands of heavily wooded acres of the Occoquan Reservoir watershed. The food of choice for deer is sparse in the winter months so they forage in the residential area of the woods since it has edible shrubbery.
The young lady at the right has become a regular late afternoon visitor to the area directly behind our house - she is distinguishable by the dark spot on the left side of her forehead.

The VDOT commuter parking lot at Old Bridge Rd and Minnieville at the entrance to Lake Ridge, Woodbridge VA. has 664 parking spaces.
Construction of the lot coincided with the widening and realignment of Minnieville Rd which made the old lot at Harbor Drive no longer easily accessible to buses and car pools.
