food: What is your Traditional New Years feast to bring luck and prosperity for 2011? - 12/31/10 12:44 PM
What is your Traditional New Years feast to bring luck and prosperity for 2011?
There are many traditional meals cooked on New Years Day that families hope will bring them prosperity, luck and happiness going into the next year.  Many of these foods are traditional by virtue of ethnicity.
Here are a few that I know about:
1. Pork and Sauerkraut.  My family always has pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and fresh applesauce (and my father always loved to put chopped sweet onions on top and mix it up like a huge casserole mound).  This has been our families tradition since as … (4 comments)

food: I love peanut butter, but rat's in the vat, and salmonella poisoning...can you trust anyone? - 02/07/09 04:27 PM
I love peanut butter, but rat's in the vat, and salmonella poisoning...can you trust anyone?
WHERE IS THE FDA?
You can be assured if one of their family members would have been affected by this poisoning, things would be handled differently.
Where is the Quality Control?  For that matter, who is responsible for the quality control?
How discusting were the pictures of the dead rats (not mice, rats) that were shown on FOX news tonight on the Geraldo.
I do not thing that most people realize how many foods contain peanuts, peanut butter, etc.
Even dog food. Chewy bars, cookies, … (13 comments)

food: As Realtors(R), we are busy, what's in your fridge to help you and your family/customer survive? - 09/06/08 05:09 PM
As Realtors(R), we are busy, what's in your fridge to help you and your family survive?
I for one on a slow day, prepare food for the day's that I know will be busy.  On a slow day, I prepare foods that will get me through the week.
I make a nice salad, a beautiful tuna salad, some potato salad. A nice eye round roast with some fresh gravy and some mashed potatoes (easy to reheat). I always have some fresh blanched asparagas, some cauliflower with a little Velveeta cheese and a small amount of butter/margarine.
The eye round can be … (21 comments)

food: That wasn't that special... - 05/06/08 01:50 PM
I took a customer to lunch the other day.  It was a restaurant that had a reputation for great food and a great atmosphere.  It was a nice little place, family owned, familiar places...
Then the trauma...the food was supposed to be hot, it was cold, the ice tea was sour, the desert was half melted...when I thought this would be a great place to discuss Real Estate, unfortunately it was a disaster.
The chef that I knew was off with the flu...the food was horrific and the day was the same.
I apologized to my customer and let him know the food was … (6 comments)

food: Two all beef patties.... - 04/20/08 02:34 PM
special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun...That's right! Remember?
That being said.
This is about your schedule as a Realtor.
Or maybe...
I mean, I remember when you got change for a dollar when you ordered a special burger at Mickie D's!
Now, you don't get change for a $5.00 bill...
How many times are you so busy showing properties...the appointment last's way longer than anticipated (this is sometimes a good thing - perhap's a contract) and you are starving.
Do you stop for fast food? Do you keep a small cooler in your car with water and some snack's for your customer's when … (19 comments)

The AR Cookbook....enter your favorite recipes here for all to enjoy.
With so many wonderful recipes showing up on the Ar network, I thought it would be fun to start a cooking site where we can all post our favorite recipes.  I would like to eventually design a cookbook for the AR community.
It will be in sections based on the type of recipes that are submitted.  I would like to have about 500 recipes in this particular cook book.
Some ideas that would be nice are, "fast and easy," "recipes that take less than 15 minutes to prepare (for those night's when we … (19 comments)
