staging to sell: Glass tile mosaics - Trendy or Timeless? - 03/05/14 11:45 PM
When updating your home think about whether your choice is "trendy or timeless".   Ask yourself, "In 5 years will this be dated or valued?"
Personally & professionally  as a home stager in North Texas I am NOT a fan of the glass tile mosaics that I'm still seeing mainly in kitchens used for backsplashes.   Everything in moderation is key!   These busy patterns often distract and clutter the field of vision and to me a backsplash shouldn't make a statement over pricey countertops, cabinets & appliances in the space. Unless the rest of the kitchen finishes are very simple & the tile … (13 comments)

staging to sell: Insanity = Keeping Same Listing Photos AFTER Staging - 12/27/13 09:51 AM
I'm actually going to turn down a staging job if the client chooses NOT to have their home for sale professionally re-photographed.
I firmly believe that there is NO point in paying for staging if the end result isn't going to represent the product correctly or result in more buyer interest.
Keeping the same listing photos on a currently listed home (that has had no offers or major interest) AFTER staging makes no sense to me.
It's the old saying of; "why expect a different result when doing the same old thing?" I value my brand and my client's results too much.

staging to sell: You actually have 2 chances to make a first impression when selling - 04/30/13 03:32 AM
When I meet with a home staging client for a home staging consultation  to assist them when preparing their home for sale, I explain that I have a two-fold purpose for being there and that there are actually 2 showings on their home by all prospective buyers - one showing is before ever stepping foot inside their home.
My purpose while providing a home staging consultation as a professional home stager is two-fold;
To give a home seller an honest buyer's eye perspective on how their home shows as well as make recommendations that will help rule out any prospective buyer objections. To assist the … (35 comments)

staging to sell: These are a few of my favorite things... for staging! - 04/25/13 09:13 AM
If you are a home stager and you keep your own accessory inventory then you know we all have our favorites when it comes to staging props and decor.  Over the years I've honed in on a few which help me with the method to my madness for my market in North Texas.  I'm happy to share below. These are just a few of my favorite things and how I use them in my staging to sell projects. I'd love to hear about yours (and in photos too!)

staging to sell: Festive Fall Staging to Sell or Dwell Idea: Pumpkin Topiaries - 09/27/11 10:05 AM
Whether you’re selling a home or dwelling in one, porch appeal is always a plus! So I decided to punch up my own last weekend. The weather was great and pumpkins were at Walmart for $3.88 each. But not only because I found cheap pumpkins… It’s my favorite time of year too. I also relish the idea of having passersby enjoy the view of my home on their morning or evening walks. I love looking at my neighbor’s homes as well and what they do and I hope to invigorate and inspire them too. The same sentiment should be said about prospective home buyers too.
