motivation: My 200th Blog Post on Active Rain... - 06/05/08 02:25 PM
I write about politics, real estate, mortgages, financial planning, the state of the economy.  I've also typed out motivational posts, and sometimes just posts that vent my current state of mind.  So why should I change with my 200th post.  So here it goes....
What is the difference between optimism and pessimism?  Is it heathy to be either, or is it better to have alittle of each?
First let's define optimism.... perhaps its simply an outlook on life such that one maintains a view of the world as a positive place.  Sometimes there is what is known as over optimism, or … (14 comments)

motivation: How to make a million in less then a year!! - 01/02/08 08:30 AM
Over the holidays I was talking to my father about a new business project, and he made the comment that he needed to make a million dollars in the next couple of years.  That started me thinking, how hard would it be to make a million dollars, and what if you could do it in one year.
So I sat down at lunch today and pulled out the yellow Meade notepad.  Soon I realized that making a million bucks in one year would be a large task, but it is possible.  Here are the numbers as generated by my pen and handy … (57 comments)

motivation: Next three weeks are critical - 11/26/07 03:21 AM
Sometimes I think writing blogs are catharsis to my soul.  My motivation to get back into the thick of things was not at an all time high.  But after getting into the office, reading Activerain blogs, I think I'm ready to fight the good fight.  Here's one thing to remember.  Those new listings and loans you acquire in the text three weeks will put food on the table in January and February.  So in other words, there are 19-22 days before everyone zones out for Christmas break. So if you push really hard now, then 2008 maybe that much better!!
It's been … (3 comments)

motivation: What is your "possibility" - 10/15/07 09:04 AM
I'm a playoff fan of major league baseball. So I'll never claim that I'm a die hard fan. But the recent success of the Colorado Rockies has been fascinating to me.  Not more then a few weeks ago the Rockies playoff hopes were about gone.  But starting about 30 days ago, Colorado has won 20 of 21 games, which is unheard of according to most major league baseball fans!  Each game leading to the playoffs could have been their last one.  They had to play San Diego in the "play in game", which they one by one in the 13th inning!  … (9 comments)

motivation: Tony Robbins - One way to change your life! - 06/14/07 03:51 PM
I used to think Tony Robbins was some kind of flash in the pants motivator.  Who hasn't heard of the guy who's always smiling with those big white teeth.  I remember when he helped Andre Agassi over his slump in the early 90's, and I wondered why he was looked as such a rock star by his adoring fans.
Well now I can say I'm a fan as well.  At the recent Strategic Equity Summit in Las Vegas, Tony was one of our key note speakers.  All I can say is it was an EXPERIENCE and if you want to go to … (3 comments)

motivation: How do you trigger Enthusiasm in your clients.. - 01/08/07 03:12 AM
In an earlier blog I referenced a book that I've been reading.  It mentioned that in networking situations that you should not be insincere or disengenous in your approach to a new relationship.  However you do need to bring passion, enthusiasm or life to the relationship!  As sales agents we have a tremendous repsonsiblity to be "ON" or "ENGAGED" every time we're in the office, with a customer or in a meeting where your providing input.  Your clients especially know when your "On" or when your just going through the motions.
So how do you turn "On" when your feeling in the … (0 comments)

motivation: Rock Balboa....great movie for inspiration and motivation must see!! - 12/21/06 05:28 PM

It was my pleasure to watch Rocky Balboa the movie today.  I was worried that the movie would be a flop like Rocky V, but after reading a few reviews of the show this morning, and being under the weather, I decided to take a personal day and go see a show.
It was your typical Rocky movie, except the content outside the ring was exceptional!  Sylvester Stallone has one of the best lines I've ever heard him utter.  I won't ruin the movie for anyone, but this line was uttered after speaking to his son who is embarrased because he's considering … (1 comments)
