“Clay County residents have been asking what they can do to help and show appreciation to the hundreds of U.S. and N.C. Forest Service firefighters who have come to our area to fight and control the massive outbreak of wildfires. Jackrabbit Mountain Trail The Jackrabbit Mountain trail system in Hayesville, NC officially opened on April 30, 2011 and now provides access to over 14 miles of trails in the southern parts of Nantahala National Forest.
Characteristics The trails travel along the shores and hills beside Lake Chatuge. All trails are open to mountain biking and hiking, and although the trails were constructed specifically with mountain biking in mind, they're a nice place to hike as well.
