There are tons and tons of wonderful outdoor activites in fabulous Blue Ridge, GA (an easy, short drive from Atlanta) and the Toccoa River Canoe Trail is a great place to start. 
 
The Toccoa River Canoe Trail is terrific for beginners who are looking for a few rapids and some absolutely beautiful scenery. The trail is also popular with float fishermen looking for cold-water mountain trout. Some consider the Toccoa RIver to have the best trout fishing in Georgia.
