HOUSING INVENTORY IS UP IN HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND THE HOUSING INVENTORY IN HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND HAS BEEN LOW FOR THE PAST YEAR.  DURING THE LAST 60 DAYS WE ARE SEEING MORE AND MORE NEW LISTINGS COMING ON THE MARKET.  MOST OF THEM ARE STANDARD SALES, NOT SHORT SALES OR FORECLOSURES. THIS BODES WELL FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS BECAUSE OF A MORE BALANCED MARKET.  WE ARE PREDICTING A BOOM "NOT BLOOM" IN OUR SPRING MARKET.

HOME SALES IN COLUMBIA, MARYLAND ARE ON THE UPSWING Home sales in Columbia, Maryland have picked up significantly in 2013.  The inventory is starting to increase and there are less short sales and foreclosures on the market.  So for the sequestration in the federal government hasn't hurt our real estate market yet, even though we are close to Washington D.C.  Buyers have more confidence now that prices have stabilized and that they will have equity in their homes when they decide to sell.  let's hope this trend continues.  I think it will!

WHY ARE HOA COVENANTS AND RESTRICTIONS IMPORTANT IN HOWARD COUNTY? Almost all buyers ask why do they have to live in a newer neighborhood that has HOA covenants and restrictions.  They want to be able to do anything they want with the exterior of the house without applying for permission from an HOA.  What they don't see is that these same covenants and restrictions protect their property values.  Their neighbors can't store wrecked cars in the driveway.  They can't paint their house hot pink.  They cant sell beer on the front porch.  They have to cut the grass and maintain the … (1 comments)

     A long time customer asked me the other day where the best place to start if they wanted to update their house and get there money back when they decided to sell.  I always recommend that they start in the kitchen.  Upgrade the counters to granite, Silestone or Corian. ONE STREAM RECYCLING IN HOWARD COUNTY MARYLAND
One of the really neat things about living in Howard County, Maryland is what is called "one stream recycling.  You don't have to separate your recyclable items when you put them at the curb.  The county gives you a large recycling ben with wheels that you put everything in and put out once a week.  It's so easy and it helps save our environment!
