home staging: Sometimes You Only Need to Stage a Little Bit! - 07/12/16 10:44 PM
A couple of months ago, a local investor called me and was inquiring about having one of his houses staged.  He was new to flipping houses and did not want to spend a fortune on having the home staged, but he knew he needed some form of home staging.

Based on the expected selling point of the home, the potential buyer audience, and all the repairs my client needed to make he did not want to spend more than $4,000 on home staging.

I know some of you may think $4,000 is a lot of money to spend, but the home was in … (6 comments)

This year I have made a promise to myself to network more with other local businesses.  I have joined a few local Chambers of Commerce and have been meeting some really great people.
On Sunday, I had a booth at the Tri-Chamber Expo located inside the Monroe Woodbury High School. It was a three Chamber Expo that included the Monroe Chamber, Cornwall Chamber, and the Woodbury Chamber.

Here is my Expo Booth:

I had a great time and met many local business owners.  I even booked a few design jobs as a result of the Expo. … (2 comments)

home staging: How to Figure Out the Value of Your Home? - 10/22/09 02:26 AM
If you are planning on selling your home, I am sure you want to make sure you receive top dollar for your home and draw the most amount of potential buyer traffic to your front door. For years, this was your cherished home, you have built memories here, made repairs, celebrated holidays and birthdays and really love your home.
If you price your home too high, you may risk not attracting any potential buyers those critical first 30 days your home is on the market.  If you price your home too low, a buyer may think there is something wrong with … (5 comments)

home staging: How Many Hats Does a Stager Wear? - 10/15/09 11:57 AM
I just read a blog on AR that got me thinking about all the hats that we wear as stagers.  Home Staging is so much more than going into a home and recommending cleaning and de-cluttering, these are just common sense recommendations.
Here is my list of hats:
Contractor Recommendations - Since I started my staging business, I have been asked to recommend contractors, couch reupholsters, oriental carpet cleaners that will pick up the carpets, landscapers, house cleaners, painters, custom window treatments dealers, and power washers.  I have grown my list of contractors that I trust and can now recommend (with … (17 comments)

home staging: What Sells a Home? - 10/04/09 07:45 AM
Some houses sell very quickly while others just sit on the market and really do not go anywhere.  There are three main things that need to be done to get potential buyers past your front door.
1.  Your online pictures.  I have to agree with this, since over 85% of buyers are looking on the Internet first before visiting a home.  If your online home picture are not impressive, most potential buyers will not physically go to see your home.  In the age of the Internet, online marketing is very important.  Once you have perfected your online pictures, make sure buyers … (2 comments)

home staging: Are We More Than "House Fluffers?" - 08/19/09 09:08 AM
This afternoon I did a quick search on Google and I was shocked when I realized how many web sites refer to home staging as "house fluffing." Some reputable web sites appeared to group the two terms together as if they are interchangeable.
http://www.sixelements.com/hiringahomestager.html  - The article itself had some good information except for calling me a "fluffer."  Even Forbes Magazine uses this terminology.
I looked up "house fluffer: in wwww.wordspy.com and the definition of the word is "a decorator who recommends improvements and renovations designed to maximize a house's sale price."  Apparently, Eileen Daspin was the first to use this … (7 comments)
