malheur county: I finally made it to Jordan Valley - 09/16/10 03:40 AM
I took another Jordan Valley Oregon listing Monday.  I'll post it on localism later today.  I had been trying to get there for a week.  It's 90 some miles from my office!   Malheur County Oregon is huge bigger than several states.
I get on US 95 and drive through Parma, Wilder and cross the Snake and into Homedale, then there's only 57 more miles.  Then 95 turns south and goes up Marsing Hill - looking back  you have a spectacular view of the Boise and Treasure Valleys.
Then it's through high desert hills and little canyons till you hit a few … (0 comments)

malheur county: Voting in Oregon - 05/05/08 07:46 AM
I just voted!  There are things I don't like about living in Oregon but VOTING is one of the things I love!  Several years ago we passed a ballot measure that makes ALL elections mail in.  There were great gloom and doom predictions - mostly to the tune of "if it is that easy to vote then "those people" will vote" .  It is so simple you just sit at the kitchen table read or re read the voter's pamphlet and mark your balllot and send it in - or drop it off at the designated places.  Oregon elections are fun - there … (0 comments)

malheur county: We are doing a new website! - 02/19/08 06:27 PM
After much discussion and thought we decided to have a new company website.  We have one now but we aren't satisfied with it - it is just there.   We are putting  more of our money and time into this.  The whole agency is involved and it has been interesting.  We gave everyone 5 local examples of good real estate  websites and we all commented on what features we liked.  We picked a provider and are now in the final tweaking stages.  We're all pleased with the basic look and features and ease of use.  Our small agency runs from way techie 20-somethings … (3 comments)

malheur county: LAND USE IN MALHEUR COUNTY - BORDERS IDAHO - 02/06/08 10:34 AM
I'D LIKE TO FOCUS TODAY ON LAND USE IN OREGON, SPECIFICALLY MALHEUR COUNTY.  FIRST OF ALL MALHEUR COUNTY IS BIGGER THAN RHODE ISLAND AND HAS ONLY 34000 OR SO PEOPLE.  WE HAVE A LOT OF PUBLIC(BLM) LAND.  THE MAJOR POPULATION OF OREGON IS THE WILLAMETTE RIVER CORRRIDOR  THINK I-5 , AND THERE'S WHERE THE POLICIAL POWER IS.  THE POINT OF THIS IS THAT OREGON'S LAND USE LAWS ARE MADE AT THE STATE LEVEL AND REFLECT THE VIEWS OF THE MORE POPULATED AREA OF OREGON.  THE STATE FEELS VERY STRONGLY ABOUT PROTECTING FARM LAND AND THE LAWS AND REGULATIONS REFLECT THIS.  IT … (0 comments)

malheur county: Yippee! There's more activity! - 02/02/08 07:44 AM
Is is just me or are you experiencing  this too.  Here in the Intermountain West where we are socked in by snow and more snow (we have had years of milder winters but not this one) the activity level has really picked up.  I enjoy having more business I don't totally enjoy sliding through drifts of ice-crusted snow to do that business but I'll survive and spring is coming!
People have to live someplace and the lower interest rate message is really getting out.  I think people are encouraged by the prospect of "free" money in May from the proposed tax … (3 comments)

malheur county: spuds, hay and wheat - 01/09/08 01:44 AM
We sometimes forget here in the Intermountain 'West that underneath it all is agriculture.  We have our daily hustle, traffic, shopping at this or that franchise store or restaurant.  But look at what brings in the money to your county and I think you'll be amazed at how much is ag.  The wheat and hay farmers had an excellent year I think we are going to se some farm land selling for production, not just pretty.  I'm writing this after we had 6 inches of new wet snow.,  That is not fun to drive around in but vital for our area … (2 comments)
