homes: Residential Energy Tax Credits - 01/26/10 08:09 AM
Replace aging windows, HVAC systems and non-solar water heaters, install efficient biomass stoves, add insulation, or fix a worn out roof..........what do those have in common???
They may make you eligible for a tax credit!  To encourage greater energy efficiency homeowners can recoup 30% of the cost, up to $1500 for making any of these qualifying upgrades during 2009 or 2010.  The credit can be used for the year you completed the work.
Ask your contractor for a receipt!  Labor can be included on some of the rehab projects.  Consult your tax professional.  It is called the Nonbusiness Energy property Credit.

You may need to repeat your request to a supervisor who will have more leeway to meet your terms.
2. Check your loans.
As a general rule of thumb, it's worth looking into … (3 comments)

homes: There May be Home For Homeowners Doing Short Sales...... - 01/22/10 06:33 AM

From CLARK HOWARD:
Considering buying home and looking for a real deal? Consider a shortsale. A shortsale is where you work with a lender to actively market your home and sell it for less than the mortgage balance. The buyer gets a home at a great price, the bank doesn't have to absorb the expense of a foreclosure and you can walk away with only a minimal hit on your credit -- much less than if … (2 comments)

homes: FHA Changes Significant - 01/20/10 03:31 AM
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insures about 30 percent of new loans, and its health is vital for the housing market.  But as foreclosures have risen, the government agency has seen its losses rise and its reserves sink below the minimum level required by Congress.
According to the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) more than 18 percent of FHA borrowers are at least one payment behind or in foreclosure, compared with 14 percent for all loans. In addition, some unscrupulous operators have shifted their business to the FHA after the subprime business went bust. Last week, the FHA served subpoenas on 15 … (2 comments)

This news article was posted in yesterday's News and Observer.  Now it is more important than ever to pick a real estate company that has longevity.
Allen Tate will be closing a quarter of their offices.  However, they are not leaving any markets.  There are no Allen Tates in the Greenville Market Center.
