The majority topics I read on the rain is how to survive as a real estate agent in your 1st few years which is excellent. We hear about recruiting agents but what happens once you get the agents. Therefore, I would like to see a contest for a plan on how to retain real estate agents for the long haul. This can be a contest to write a blog about a brokerage retaining agents and they can write a five to seven tips (or whatever number) on the topic and explain. I would like to see some outta the (5 comments)

During this time of the year, most real estate agents who are goal oriented are planning for the following year and reflecting on the old year. As I was doing my time of reflecting, I thought about some of the actions from some real estate agents in 2017. I'm sure this wasn't the first year but I thought I would expose some of the bad habits. If you are a new agent, try to develop some great habits from the start.
We are true professionals and we do make a decent living. We can't get too lazy where we stop treating our business like a business and value our (4 comments)
A Two-Minute Read: Is Your Website Accessible to the Disabled?
I think about rental properties or even public bathrooms being equipped for the disabled but I have not given any thought to my website being user friendly for the disabled. I read an article on how attorneys are scoping out real estate companies and agents’ websites to file a lawsuit if they are not equipped for individuals with disabilities. We know lawyers thrive on opportunities to sue and they are knocking at our door this go around. I have not heard of any incidents where they have sued any real estate agent (6 comments)
This was a comment I posted back in July and wanted to get AR member thoughts:
I am paraphrasing the comment, but I wanted to give the final outcome on the situation:
A client signed an exclusive listing agreement and went in the back door and signed a contract without my knowledge. After she spoke with me, then she decided she wanted to back out the deal with the buyer; because I told her she could have gotten more and she still had to pay my commission. After thinking about it and getting some feedback, I realized I had better leave that alone (2 comments)
Our lives are dictated by our habits. It is definitely a fact that we have them - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some habits we are glad to have and some bad habits we have adopted that we would love to break; but we have been doing them so long that it can be hard to break. If you can create a habit and make it a way of living then rest assure it will automatically transfer over into your business life whether it's good, bad or ugly. For each (7 comments)

When you have goals in life, it's easy to accomplish them and call it a day. If I did that, I might as well stop living. I took a break off the rain for awhile to complete my second goal. Yes, School. Even if it wasn't school, it would be something else because I am a busy body. My Two Personal Goals have been met. I was to complete them in 2014 but because of "Life Happens," I had to put them on hold. In these last few years, I had major "Life Happens" and I (8 comments)
It’s always interesting to hear from real estate agents who have been in the business for quite some time on their “Best Business Practices.” As newbies or even agents who have not reached their top performance level, it’s good to see what others are doing so we can figure out this thing called “Real Estate.” When I started real estate many years ago, I did not have as much information as we have today. I won’t say that my story has made me one of the highest top producers in my community but it has made enough money to (10 comments)

I enjoy talking on the radio. Let my hubby tell it, I love talking anywhere and anytime. In my local community, this is the only station that talks "real estate." We share real estate information and have fun at the same time. Julia da Realtor is the host and I am the co-host. I had the opportunity to listen for the 1st time to someone who I call my mentor Margaret "HomeRome" Rome real estate talk show and she has definitely given me some great pointers on how Julia and I can structure our talk show. We look forward (2 comments)

In real estate, we have a long and winding road but it's well worth it. I was thinking about when I started in real estate, I did not know the difference from a mom and pop or a major real estate company. All I knew is I wanted to sell some houses.
The first person told me I could work with him, I said "YES!" This broker probably only had me as an agent. He had a full time job as a correctional officer. I did not know who I should work with. All I knew (4 comments)
I am sure that your real estate agent will do their job to the fullest. Here are some simple tips for you:
1. Keep your house clean and neat when you get ready to show.
2. If it’s a single family home or townhouse, make sure the landscaping is well kept. If it's a condominium, sweep up by the front door and it would also be nice to get a welcome mat.
3. Have some deodorizers or candles to make your home smell good and make sure that it does not have a bad odor or food smell.
