How can I get a good idea of what my house is worth today While every house is different is some way, even in tract house development, values of similar units can give you an indication of what you might expect to get in the sale of you unit today. There are sites on the web that you can go to for this information, but they don’t all have the same criteria in determining value. What's my house REALLY worth? In short, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Generally, it's all about location, size, condition and special features. Some websites, Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, just go for the generic information, i.e. location, size, etc. That can be very misleading. I looked up my property on several different sites and found a big difference between them. One had it very low, $350,000 while another had it too high, $485,000. So, who is correct? I wish they would be more accurate. People on Staten Island think they are the Gospel Truth. I was at a closing last spring with my clients, and he said to me "My house just increased in value" I responded "You think"? he said "I know" saw it on @#$%^.com. I explained to him, that they only have a few people for the entire USA. How can they be accurate? He was dumbfounded.
