In March 2017 closed sales of single family homes increased 2.6 percent from last year, and sales of condos increased by 13.5 percent from last year.  The median sales price for a single family home in Sarasota County increased to $262,621, up 7.6 percent over March  2017.  On the other hand, Sarasota County condos median price increased to $230,000, u[17.3 percent over March of last year.

Sarasota Real Estate Market Continues To Soar In February!  Sales continued to climb in the Sarasota Real Estate Market in February rising 24 percent over last year!  January's sales were 22 percent over the previous year.  If this trend continues 2013 will be a record breaking year for the Sarasota Real Estate Market.

Damn The Downturn!  Sarasota Sales Fourth Highest In 90 Years!  Sales of homes in the Sarasota real estate market in November rose 29 percent over last November.  The Sarasota real estate market is currently on track to achieve the fourth highest level of sales in SAR's 90-year history (SAR stands for Sarasota Association of Realtors).  So when people tell you the real estate market is down, not here in Sarasota.

Sarasota Real Estate Market For October 2011 Beats Last October!  The total number of real estate sales for the Sarasota real estate market in October 2011 was 577, a considerable improvement over last October's number of 487.  This is an 18.4 percent increase and, hopefully, a sign of even better numbers to come.  Pending sales were up as well to 772.
An even better sign for the Sarasota real estate market is that we are currently on track to out perform last years sales which were at the highest level since 2005.

Sarasota Chalk Festival finishes with a flair!  The weather was perfection on Sunday, November 6, 2011 as the artists put their finishing touches on their magnificent creations at the Sarasota Chalk Festival.  These ephemeral works of art are breathtaking and heartbreaking all at the same time.  The hard work and creativity poured into these beautiful paintings on the asphalt of Pineapple, Dolphin and Oak Avenues were washed away by a team of pressure washers Monday evening after a final day the streets were closed to allow visitors to appreciate these treasures one more time.

The crowds are building at the Sarasota Chalk Festival.  Five days into the Sarasota Chalk Festival and the crowds are unbelievable.  All the artists are here and working on their individual pieces feverishly racing  towards the final competition.  In addition to the artists there are street vendors and live performances all day long and going into the night.

Sarasota Chalk Festival, Day Four, The Excitement Is Building!  As the Sarasota Chalk Festival enters day four the crowds are getting thicker.  Pineapple Avenue is now blocked off all the way down to Orange Avenue and the 2-D artists have begun to create their works.  The 3-D artists have been working since Tuesday.  New this year is the vertical art and Cellograff.  The Sarasota Opera set appears complete and ready for performances on their "chalk" stage this coming Sunday.

Sarasota Fourth Annual Chalk Festival in progress.  This week there are 250 artists from all over the world in Sarasota for the Fourth Annual Chalk Festival.  The theme this year is "Pavement Art Through The Ages".  The asphalt pavement on Pineapple Avenue between Ringling Boulevard and Orange Avenue is their canvas.  The headquarters for the festival is in downtown Sarasota in Historic Burns Square.
"We'll be offering world-class art by world-renowned artists, including several pioneers in 3-D pavement art," says Denise Kowal, festival chair.

Sarasota sales remain strong in September.  The Sarasota real estate market continued its strong performance this year with 570 sales in September 2011 versus 547 in September of 2010.  While down from August of this year when there were 601 sales, the Sarasota market appears to be continuing the recent positive trends.  The inventory of available properties was up slightly in September to 4,430 from 4,408 in August.

Sarasota home sales for September beat last September!  The Sarasota real estate market continues to be solid in September with 570 sales, compared to 547 in September of 2010 and 601 in August of this year.  Historically, the fall market is slower and isn't expected to pick up until our local season begins when seasonal homeowners and visitors cause a swell in local population and activity.

Sarasota Real Estate Market remains stable in August.  Inventory declines to ten year low!  The inventory of available properties in the Sarasota real estate market has been dropping for the last nine months and hit a ten month low in September.  Only 4,408 properties are currently on the market for sale.  In addition to this, sales in Sarasota for the last ten months have consistently exceeded 500 per month.  There were a total of 601 sales recorded in August, including 445 single family homes and 156 condos.
