My birthday was last Thursday and my fiance surprised me with a last minute road trip to Carmel (and a Magellan Maestro GPS!).  I can sum up our trip with one word:  WOW!
It took me two days just to really relax and when I finally did we were heading back home.  Now, looking out at my neighbor's trees and fence across the street--which didn't seem so bad before I left--now looks pitiful compared to what I was feasting my eyes on for the past 3 days.

The chart below shows the average sales price and the number of homes in Marin County from 2001 -  present.  As you will see, the volume is way down but prices are holding steady or increasing.  Northern Marin has been hit hard by the current market, but Southern Marin continues to keep the averages high.
