The RESNET HERS Index is the industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. A new partnership between the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) and the Appraisal Institute plans to include Home Energy Rating System (HERS) scores in appraisals. A HERS Score allows buyers to evaluate a home's energy efficiency. The lower the score the more energy efficient the home. By adding the score to home appraisals, consumers purchasing a home with a better score can get a better valuation because the home they are buying is more energy efficient.
