naperville: THERE IS A LOT TO LOVE ABOUT THE SUBDIVISION MAPLEBROOK, IN NAPERVILLE ILLINOIS - 03/23/08 09:55 AM
If you are looking for a modestly priced home in the sought after suburb of Naperville, Illinois, look no further than the Maplebrook subdivision.
Located just one and a half miles from downtown Naperville, filled with restaurants, night life, and shopping, Maplebrook is a subdivision of three and four bedroom homes built in the 1960's.
This subdivision and its homes have been cared for. The lots are filled with trees.  Oaks, maples, and pines line the streets.  Sidewalks and quiet streets make this a little slice of heaven.
The houses in Maplebrook lie in the top ranked school district in Illinois, District 203.
There are currently 21 homes … (1 comments)

naperville: MY 10,000th POINT! - 03/12/08 06:34 AM
As I write, I contemplate what I have learned in the month or so I have been active in our little neighborhood.
The network is growing quickly.  Points/Scoring makes it very addicting.  I enjoy the camaraderie of communicating with agents throughout the country.  Limo driving is a great second job.  100% of those who voted liked my bald head.  There is lots to learn and share out there...
Thanks Active Rain.

naperville: There goes OIL again! - 03/10/08 05:08 AM
Holy smokes yet again.  Oil is up another $2.50 today up to $107.68.  I heard this morning that gas will be up another 30 cents in the next few weeks.  That will push the price up in Naperville Illinois to last summers high of approximately $3.50/gallon.  OUCH!
As a real estate agent and part time limo driver, that hurts.  But we persevere.  Gas will probably get to $4 per gallon this summer here in the midwest.  I guess we might as well get ready for it.It seems Wall Street is finally catching on to the troubles in the mortgage/real estate market.  The … (4 comments)

naperville: One thing I have learned - 03/09/08 06:54 AM
In two and a half years in real estate, I have learned something important for sales and life.
It takes time.  Life is about learning, not being the smartest.  If you are always improving, even just a little bit, you will be a huge success.
One of my early mentors, Sue Daley of RE/MAX Action told me early on that I would learn something new about this crazy business every day.  And I have.
Our sales might not be at the level we want, but as long as we are improving every day our business is growing and our sales will follow!
What is improving?  -Meeting someone … (5 comments)

naperville: LOW REAL ESTATE COMMISSION IN NAPERVILLE/CHICAGOLAND - 03/06/08 04:24 AM
We all know the real estate market has been challenging the last couple of years.  I know many people are concerned about selling their homes.
In this time of "slow" sales, most realtors are raising their rates to make up for their lower sales.  I think differently.
In an effort to boost business, I am offering a discounted commission of 4% to my sellers who also purchase a home through me.
I am honest, hard working and fair.  If you are considering a move, call me at 630-697-0536, and we will get you into a new home!
I hope to talk to you soon,
Ken

naperville: Thanks, BUY OWNER! - 03/05/08 10:18 AM
Hello World!  I was reading some posts when a Thanks, Buy Owner commercial came on.  I was curious what others thought about the company/the commericals.
Personally, I feel they are cheaply produced, quite cheesy and not something I would call as a consumer.  That being said, does anyone feel threatened by them??  Has anyone ever sold a home using them?
Are they just in the Chicagoland area?  Are they nationwide?
Just curious.

naperville: Is anyone watching oil prices? - 03/05/08 06:02 AM
Holy smokes.  Oil prices were up $5 today!
I read an article the other day that it had just passed it's inflation adjusted high from 1980.  It would seem gas prices will spike this summer at more than $4 per gallon.  Ouch.
Yet another challenge to the pocket books of struggling realtors.  That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger, I guess.
I hope all is well,
Ken

naperville: LOW PRICED HOMES NEAR DOWNTOWN NAPERVILLE - 03/04/08 07:08 AM
Living near a bustling downtown such as Naperville Illinois is the hope of many.  Two affordable subdivisions lie a short distance from the popular downtown and also are in the highly sought after School District 203.
For those with a budget in the mid to high 200's, Springhill would be a perfect subdivsion.  This neighborhood has large trees and the homes come in a variety of models and sizes.  Springhill is quite close to the train station and downtown area.
If your budget is in the low to high 300's, Maplebrook is a great place to live.  Once again, beautiful trees line the … (0 comments)

naperville: Do you like my bald head?? - 03/01/08 06:45 AM
No seriously.  Do you?  I was originally just thinking it would be a funny title, but...
Just a little back ground.  Yes, I do shave it myself.  Gillette Mach III Turbo.  Takes less than 5 minutes.  In the shower.  I do it about twice a week.
I started losing it in my twenties.  Boy, that was tough for me.  I used to have blond hair.  Thinning hair is difficult for a young single guy.  I used to be a stock broker.  Probably too much stress...
The funny thing is I don't know if I would take it back if I could.  I … (9 comments)

naperville: Blogging my afternoon away - 03/01/08 06:01 AM
Hello.  Thanks again for reading.  It's Saturday.  My wife is at a baby shower.  I am passing my afternoon blogging.  Is this a problem?  Time will tell...
I have a tired buyer perking up a bit and asking me to see a home tomorrow in Naperville.  Perhaps they are getting close.  Another buyer may want to look in the morning at a townhome in Aurora.  Yes, I think things may be picking up.
Drove the limo yesterday afternoon/evening.  Important back up cash.  Helps a lot.  I still could use a closing.
I hope all is well,
Ken

naperville: How much should we be paid for selling a home? - 02/28/08 07:46 AM
Just a thought as I was reading another post.  How much should we be paid when we are a selling agent??  I understand that we need to make a living, but does that mean we need to make $12,500 to list and sell a 500k home at 2.5%?  I am not sure.
In my brief career, I have always been coached to charge the most commission that I can.  That doesn't make sense to me.  Lets just say we charged a little less, would that not encourage sellers to be a bit more flexible?  I think it might.
What if on that same … (4 comments)

naperville: Where are you RE/MAX Ken? - 02/26/08 12:41 PM
Hello world.  I have missed you too.  I am currently sitting in the back of my limo outside of the United Center.  It's a stretch.  Not bad.  Bon Jovi is playing.  I drove three ladies and there sons from Glen Ellyn.  Sounds like they were going to have a nice time.
I got a $75 parking ticket when I was unloading my passengers.  Bummer.  Doesn't poverty have a way of reaching up, grabbing you and sucking you back in.  It seems to.  Anyway, will still be netting some $$$, but much less than I would have.
Which brings me back to my … (1 comments)

naperville: Keeping an EYE on points! - 02/25/08 07:20 AM
OK.  I know.  The point of blogging is learning and building relationships.  To share common experiences.
If this is true, how come I can't stop staring at my points!!  The reason I bring this up now is that I have just moved into the top 10 in Naperville Illinois.  Yeah!  WOOPIE!!!  Take a bow.  Yeeee Haaaaaaaaaah.
Ok.  I promise.  I will do my best to build relationships, learn and share common experiences.
But I still love my points.

naperville: Keeping Busy - 02/25/08 06:02 AM
Hello World!  I have been productive today.  I feel that is one of the biggest challenges facing realtors, especially newer ones.  I consider myself a hard worker.  Nothing is tougher on me then when I feel unproductive.  I love mowing the lawn.  You can see the work you have done immediately.  Same with snow shovelling.  Not always so with real estate...
So what have I been doing?  I drove the limo last night until 1:30 AM.  I took a gentleman to the airport this morning as well.  After that, I came home, coffee and breakfast with my wife and little girl, worked … (4 comments)

naperville: Feeling Lazy - 02/24/08 07:36 AM
Hello world.  It's Sunday.  Tiger Woods is about to close out Stewart Cink in the World Match Play.  And I am feeling lazy.
Is this ok?  Me thinks that it is.  I have been working today.  I will be driving my limo later this afternoon (I recently began working a few times a week as a Limo Driver).  Should make about $100.  Gives me one more day of survival in real estate...
It will be good when I am no longer living closing to closing, but those times will come.  I am a newer agent (licensed in October 05).  Working at RE/MAX Action … (2 comments)
