The June edition of the Town of Mooresville’s “Music on Main" monthly summer concert series is Friday night, with The Blue Dogs performing on the lawn next to Town Hall downtown.
It’s from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and admission is free. Bring blankets or lawn chairs.
The next concert will be July 4 when Ken Knox & Company perform.

Mooresville’s diversity will be on display Saturday during the 31st annual Race City Festival.
“It’s amazing just to come see downtown filled to capacity every year and see the diversity of the town,” said Kirk Ballard, president of the sponsoring Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce.
“Last year, somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 people came to see the festival and it was really remarkable. It’s always the same weekend as the All-Star Race, so we usually get a big crowd of race fans as well.”

The Town of Mooresville has joined the Elite 8 of the North Carolina League of Municipalities Hometown Showdown bracket contest.

The contest, sponsored by the N.C. League of Municipalities, is set up just like the NCAA’s March Madness, with a tournament-style bracket and regional divisions.
Each competing town in the contest entered a photo that best represented its community. More than 60 North Carolina towns entered the Facebook contest which was then narrowed down to the top 32.
Mooresville defeated Roxboro and Creedmoor in the first two rounds.

The Iredell County Board of Commissioners approved two new rescue districts in southern Iredell County recently, completing a two-and-a-half year process that has broken the Mooresville rescue district into five smaller ones, each serviced by their pre-existing fire department.
"Those five fire districts were already there, and now they are fire and rescue," said David Saleeby, Iredell County fire and emergency services coordinator.

Ron Johnson has been involved with organizing the Mooresville Christmas Parade for 40+ years and it has never been cancelled due to weather and this year will be no exception!  
Despite a forecast of heavy rain and possibly sleet. "The parade is on, rain or shine," Johnson declared.  "If there is sleet or ice, it would be totally up to the police to cancel it if they determined there was a safety risk."

Five years in the making, Mooresville Fire Station No. 5 was officially opened Wednesday with the symbolic ringing of the station’s alarm bells.
Although the station located near the U.S. 21 and Brawley School Road intersection had already been in use for about a week, its formal opening was a much-anticipated one.
