Mooresville Schools are the proud owners of the #2 spot among all High Schools in North Carolina! It's been a seven year steady climb but the hard work has definitely paid off after reaching #2 in the entire state! In 2013, 93.4 percent of students who started ninth grade in 2009-10 completed high school in four years or less. A year ago, the MGSD ranked third at 90.3 percent. And, in 2006, the first year the state reported four-year graduation rates, MGSD only graduated 64 percent of its students.

Three former Navy SEALS swam more than 12 miles across Lake Norman Friday from Queens Landing to the Rusty Rudder.  The swim raised awareness for Operation Restored Warrior, a program in Colorado that works with veteran suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It's estimated that 22 service members commit suicide each day!

Home closings in the Charlotte region climbed 31.2 percent in June from a year earlier, according to the Charlotte Regional Realtors Association. 

Residential real estate closings in the 10-county area totaled 3,485 last month, up from 2,657 in June 2012.
More GREAT NEWS ... Sale prices in the area showed continued improvement as well, marking a 19th consecutive month of gains.

Gardner-Webb University is considering opening a campus in Mooresville, as soon as next January.
The university sent a survey to members of the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce last week, seeking to gauge local interest in a small campus that would offer bachelors and masters degrees.
“Your responses will determine whether a Mooresville campus will open in January 2014,” the letter to chamber members said.
Noel Manning, director of university and media relations at the Boiling Springs-headquartered school, said plans for a Mooresville campus are “exploratory” as officials work to determine if there’s a need.

The town saw a significant gain in jobs from 2005 to 2011, from about 15,300 to 22,255, according to the latest available figures.

The Lake Norman Tennis Association (LNTA) and Visit Lake Norman (VLN) will host the 2013 North Carolina United States Tennis Association (USTA) League Adult State Championships from June 27th to June 30th.  It's expected that more than 1,500 of the top 18 and over competitors from across the state are anticipated to travel to compete in the four-day tournament.
