We broke ground and started construction for the new Environmental Science Center building late in June. It is exciting to watch the transformation from the old caretaker's cottage to the state-of-the-art science building that will help us provide more lessons for students in the surrounding areas. We have been grateful to the Highline School District for renting us a portion of their building at the Marine Tech Center, but it has been limiting. There is still a need for donations. There is a gem in Seahurst Park (Burien, WA)! The Environmental Science Center offers science instruction to area students, in particular in the areas of ecology, environmental issues, and utilizing the unique area of Seahurst Park, on 169 acres the students have access to both marine and fresh water biology, native plant habitats, and so much more. Last year the ESC reached over 7,000 students with over 11,000 hours of classes. It is such an exciting thing to watch these students get thrilled about science!
