science: Strawberry Festival - this weekend

Traditional to Burien is the Fathers Day Car Show along with the Strawberry Festival. The Car Show is a fun feature - over 200 cars from all over the area are shown - and it is on Sunday, the 20th. The Strawberry Festival is both Saturday and Sunday, and besides strawberry shortcake, you will find booths with interesting information - several about energy issues and one for the Environmental Science Center. This year the Strawberry Festival will take place at the new Town Center! And don't forget the Chili Cook-off! There is a gem in Seahurst Park (Burien, WA)! The Environmental Science Center offers science instruction to area students, in particular in the areas of ecology, environmental issues, and utilizing the unique area of Seahurst Park, on 169 acres the students have access to both marine and fresh water biology, native plant habitats, and so much more. Last year the ESC reached over 7,000 students with over 11,000 hours of classes. It is such an exciting thing to watch these students get thrilled about science!
