inspiration: Real Estate Agents: What are you doing to survive - 07/09/09 06:17 AM
A long time ago, in a far off place Real Estate used to sell.  Phones were ringing, computers were writing contracts instead of Tweeting, and ATM's cards were used to get money....that green stuff, out of the Bank.  Oh  and that's when the word Bank used to mean the place that we put our money in, now they just take what little we have, and give Real Estate Agents headaches.

Our Parents used to talk about walking 5 miles in the snow....using an old typewriter, and black and white TV.  They loved getting a gold watch and a pension after … (25 comments)

inspiration: An Almost Wordless Wednesday- Serenity begins with Location - 05/27/09 05:01 AM
Recently one of my online friends was saying that she had a hard time sitting still and just "being". Sometimes  location is the culprit, and sometimes location is the answer.  Sometimes it's hard to just sit and "be" with the TV or radio blasting, kids running around, and family and business demands needing attention.
But when we change our location and get rid of the distractions it's easier to find peace. We can sit and just "be" enjoying the world around us while harvesting the strength of nature. It's all about desire, location, and commitment to self.   Serenity comes from … (22 comments)

inspiration: An Almost Wordless Wednesday- Word Association Communication - 05/19/09 06:26 PM
When we think of something we are using our own experiences, and our own visuals to conquer up an image for that word.  Many times misunderstandings can occur if two people have a different visual (definition) of something.  Take the State of California, what do you think of, what picture is in your mind when you hear someone say they live in California?  Our own experiences are what we use to see the world, and to communicate with each other.  But often times your world isn't someone else's world, so try to find out where they're coming from first, then communication … (17 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning Gifts: Who said there isn't any Hope, we did it :) - 03/02/09 02:51 AM
One year ago-a look back is also a look foreward. March is here, and in many parts of the country Spring has also arrived.  I wrote the following Post a year ago, when so many of us were hit with a struggling Real Estate market.  2008 was a tough year, and so many people lost their homes, their jobs, and we in the Real Estate field lost a lot of our friends.  Yes, it was a tough year, but looking at this Post gave me a lot of hope.....as almost all of the people are still here.  I can't say that … (22 comments)

inspiration: Dear Diary- Why am I so Passionate about....cat food and education? - 02/21/09 10:22 AM
I have doodled out my thoughts for years, but I have never kept a Diary.  I have written in a couple Journals several years ago, but they weren't really Diaries, so bear with me if this seems to ramble.  Apparently I am to write about what I am passionate about, and as always for command writing I don't know what to write. So I have to think for awhile, and organize my thoughts. Well, I finally figured out that for this Contest, on What we're passionate about that I had to dig deep into my soul to pull out the core passions that have been the … (46 comments)

inspiration: Real Estate: Today I too have a Dream - 01/18/09 09:35 PM
As we start today, Martin Luther King Day, let's all reflect on the ideas that have gotten us to this moment in our History.  Let us all work together to help our communities to overcome the problems we are facing.  Real Estate is more than "making a buck" it's the backbone of our American lives.  The great American land rush, refugees from war torn Europe, and Immigrants, all sacrificing to make a better life in America.

"Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little … (27 comments)

inspiration: Real Estate: Where have all the Agents gone? - 01/12/09 02:56 AM
Today is Monday, and as I wait for my first cup of coffee I try not to let the tears flow.  I'm way too old for a mid-life crisis yet the tears are welling as I set out to write this. All I was going to do was put together my typical Monday Post of Inspiration, and highlight 2 People that Inspired me this week, when the tears started flowing.  And as I write this they are hot on my cheeks.

What has caused me to be so sensitive at this hour of the morning, with no apparent trigger?  It was … (46 comments)

inspiration: There's more than one way to pay our dues-get off the Pity Pot now :) - 01/05/09 04:50 AM
How many of you paid your dues and realized that lo and behold they raised the prices?  Not by much, just $5, but did they really need to?  Look how many people couldn't afford to pay....yet instead of helping the REALTORS® by giving a break on dues, they increase them.  Yes, you just have to love this industry. But what about the other dues?
Monday, and the first full week of the new year.  So, how are you spending it?  The Business Plans should have already been done, the cuts already made to expenses, and databases organized.....or are they :)  Whatever … (24 comments)

inspiration: Different Views: A Road Divided Doesn't have to be - 12/22/08 07:16 AM
Three hours have passed since I turned on the Computer.  The day is dark and cold, and circumstances are preventing me from using the phone today. Staying on the computer and talking with our virtual friends can be a great diversion from reality.
Yesterday I wrote a Post  8 Days of Hanukkah - My gift to you on Day 1 for my friends that celebrate Hanukkah.  Some of you must have thought I was Jewish; maybe because of the theme or because of my explanations of the photo of the Synagogue I took while in Budapest.  But regardless, I felt uncomfortable not knowing … (17 comments)

inspiration: Active Rain: Love what you do and do what you love - 12/18/08 05:19 AM
"We don't have to be #1.....all we have to do is keep writing ....add a few more articles, some pictures, Market Conditions,  and  Neighborhood News. We just have to be consistent, and real.....that is what will get our Blog read."  I am in the midst of judging one of the hardest contests I've been involved with to date, just as my Points rolled over the 200,000 mark.  I find it very apropos that I am giving back just as I passed this magic number, as that has been the mark of my time on Active Rain....giving back to the Community.

inspiration: Monday Morning Gifts: What do Seagulls and Eagles have to do with you? - 11/23/08 07:39 PM
I was on Twitter when Thesa Chambers  was talking about all the Eagles in her area.  Then Ann Cummings asked a few questions, and poof there were 4 or 5 people talking about Eagles and Owls.  Ann apparently hadn't seen a real Eagle, and asked if seeing a Seagull was close enough :)  Well, as a Sunday morning would go, I decided that maybe with some glue we could add wing span, talons, and a beak to that poor seagull to make it into an Eagle.  But Ann didn't seem to think there was enough glue.....there is the premise for today's Post.  How … (57 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning: Nurturing Ourselves and Appreciating Others - 11/16/08 07:26 PM
Monday Morning.....and I have a treat.  I actually shared it the other night with a couple people, but now I have more for all of us.  Coffee and Cinnamon rolls are the order of the morning.  Seriously if you had a good cup of coffee, or tea, and the house smelled of wonderful things baking wouldn't your morning start off good?  I say go treat yourself.  We all should be nurturing ourselves, and finding ways to reduce the stress of the economy.  Me, I'll take the sweet rolls and coffee please :)

inspiration: Monday Morning...After the Rain the Sun will Shine (Updated) - 11/09/08 06:56 PM
So many times on a Monday morning we have fires to put out, phone calls to make, and problems that we have to fix. Kids have to get to school, and some people have to get to an Office.  It's Monday......and many people just can't get into the swing of things until at least Wednesday, while waiting for Friday. Sometimes it seems like Mondays are like a storm.......

inspiration: Monday Morning...Fairies and Pink Elephants - 11/02/08 08:23 PM
I live in California and we had Day Light Savings time yesterday.  I think that's why I haven't quite got used to the time change yet.  But an hour here or there....it's still Monday :)  Very early as I write this, but Monday none -the-less.
Do you believe in Destiny?  Have you ever had something happen, and later knew that a decision you made was the right one?  That's how I felt yesterday when Active Rain didn't work.  I laughed while many of you were having withdraws, and I laughed at how many people were on Twitter for the day :)  … (35 comments)

inspiration: Good People deserve to be recognized-this one's for Todd Clark of Beaverton Oregon - 10/31/08 06:29 AM
If I was in charge, and boy are you guys lucky I'm not....but if I was I would give a Group Award to Real Estate Agent Todd Clark of Beaverton, Oregon.  Todd joined the e-PRO Group after we resurrected it in August of 07.  Since the day he joined the Group, October 27,2007, he has been a consistent supporter. I wish more of the Group was like Todd, but then again no one is like Todd :)

We don't have any awards to give, but to Honor Todd I have put his latest Posts on the e-PRO Dashboard.  He … (12 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning....FREE Ghostly Graphics and Thoughts for all - 10/27/08 04:44 AM
Monday Morning, and what a beautiful day I plan to make it......I just looked at the calendar and realized Halloween is this week.  Wow, where did October go? Do you have your Pumpkin?  Do you even celebrate Halloween?  If you do here's a treat for you, and if you don't scroll past the pumpkins and move right to Treat #4.

If you have children you know that the pressure to "buy" costumes is horrible. The stores are full of them, Batman, Wonder woman, sexy this or sexy that is hot this year and vying for your dollar. Buy me buy … (36 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning Gifts....Creativity is FREE - 10/13/08 07:57 AM
Week-ends are a time for relaxing with family and friends...at least that's what I always thought.  Growing up we did our Saturday chores as fast as we could, so we would have time to hang out, and play.  Well, as Grown-ups we still want time to play. Incorporating what we enjoy into a day of fun can be quite easy with a little creativity.
I love Photography, and have taught all my Grandkids a little something about it.  Their mother loves taking photos, so how about a Photo Scavenger Hunt?  The family is all together, it costs nothing, and everyone gets to … (38 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning....Change Doesn't Have to Hurt - 10/06/08 03:57 AM
Ready or not, things change.  Monday, 8AM the Phone Rings, and just like that the Week has started. Ready or not here it comes.  Remember that line when we played hide and seek...ready or not here it comes? How did our lives get regulated to a child's game of Hide and Seek?  I swear my Real Estate Career is like that lately....Ready or Not, things change.

OK so it is time for a change, but sometimes we are so stuck in our fears, our preconceptions, and our "What if's" that we don't do anything.  We immobilize ourselves; we're not ready.  … (35 comments)

inspiration: Show You Care....Thanks Twitter and ActiveRain for being Good Global Neighbors - 10/04/08 12:29 PM
Social Media...we keep reading how blogging is good for business, and for networking. As a member of Active Rain, whether new or old, we have learned what it means to be a part of a community, something bigger than just ourselves.  As a member of Twitter we have expanded ourselves even more......to that big outside world of the Internet. Well, both Twitter and Active Rain are being called upon to be even larger members of the Global Community of Humanity.  All of us are being asked to participate in Blog Action Day 2008. And both Twitter and Active Rain are participating....here's how you … (38 comments)

inspiration: Monday Morning Gifts..........Stop and Smell the Roses - 09/22/08 05:00 AM
I don't know about any of you but this Monday morning I don't feel like writing.  Reading yes, but just a little, as I spent so much time on the computer this week-end.  So today I am just sharing that proverbial "Stop and smell the Roses."
