The Riverside County Regional Detention Center Project, also known as the Whitewater Jail, is having a meeting for interested Parties on Thursday Jan. 8th, 2009 from 6-8PM. The meeting will be held at the Cabazon Community Center located at the Corner of Broadway and Carmen Ave.
People that asked questions on the County's website for the jail were sent an email invitation to this meeting called an "Open House." I know I will be there as I have several questions, and hope they will be answered.

A $300 Million Dollar Jail in Whitewater's Backyard has the 200+ Residents in an uproar. We didn't know about this proposed Jail until the latter part of September. An emergency meeting was called for residents to try to get some of their questions answered, but actually there are more questions than answers. Apparently the County was going to do a "Presentation" to the Residents, but the jail plan was found out before this official "presentation" was given.

For many years White Water (Whitewater) CA was mostly just known for a few things.....the Whitewater Trout Farm, Whitewater Rock, and the boys school off the Verbania Exit. Progress is a strange thing; the Whitewater Trout Farm is gone, the Boy's school is gone, that old gas station has been deserted for years, and the street name Verbania has been changed. So much for local landmarks :)
People ask about about the gas station right off the Haugen-Lehmann Exit of the I-10 freeway.

Think back several years.....as many as I can think of people that couldn't afford a certain area went a little further out. And bought where they could afford. Now what? Even if gas goes back down a little, I believe the greed of the Market, and the Oil Companies will never allow it to go back to what it was last year. The Pandora's Box has been opened, and we are paying the price....literally. So, what does this have to do with Real Estate?

If you don't know where Whitewater, Ca is, just look for the windmills. Several years ago you could find the area easily, there was a huge dinosaur that seemed to just jump out at you as you drove down the 10 freeway going to or from Palm Springs. Today however that dinosaur is hidden behind a couple of restaurants. It's still there, you just can't see it as easily, but you can't miss White Water if you look for the windmills.

The community of White water CA aka Cabazon is about 20 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, Ca, and about 2 hours east of Los Angeles. The White Water area has seen a growth of activity, partly because homes in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego County have become unaffordable for the average family.
Whitewater is at the neck of the Coachella Valley, and was originally called West Palm Springs Village. The original development had investors like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Frank Sinatra. Septic Sytems are not the same as sewer, they need more care. My house is on the city sewer system, so I never gave much thought to flushing the toilet, or what I dump down the sinks, even when my 5 grandchildren come to visit, and both bathrooms are in use at the same time.
Well today I thought about the septic systems that people have, and that many people that are buying new homes in Cabazon and White Water, CA might not know how to properly care for the Septic System.

I would like to introduce myself-my name is Kathy McGraw and I work primarily in the Whitewater area by Palm Springs, Ca. This area is known by several different names ie: White Water, West Palm Springs Village, and Whitewater. If you google Whitewater you almost never find us, somehow they have seperated the name into 2 words. But, we're here and the area is growing.
