fraud: Turning away clients...never easy, but sometimes necessary! - 11/17/08 02:36 AM
The real estate market is a tougher place today.  Underwriting guidelines are changing almost daily, rates are a roller coaster at times, and some buyers have listened to the doom and gloom of the media afraid to do anything in the real estate market.  When I received a call from what seemed to be a very well qualified buyer interested in purchasing a couple of homes to rent out and to rehab, I was more than happy to help.
The referral came from a Realtor partner.  I spoke to Mr. Smith (name changed to protect the guilty) about the first property, … (56 comments)

fraud: Protecting your credit! - 09/10/08 03:54 PM
In June last year I posted about protecting your credit.  In light of my recent issue where an Employee at Countrywide sold my informationI will be taking my own advice.  When your information has been compromised it is important to be pro active.  During times when people become more desperate they stoop to desperate measures.  Unfortunately fraud and identity theft is a major problem and continues to grow.
I felt it important to repost this information!

fraud: An employee at Countrywide sold my information! - 09/10/08 05:02 AM
Yesterday afternoon in the mail was a letter addressed to my husband from Countrywide.  The envelope stamped important information about your account.  I typically just shred this because its advertisement to refinance or take a home equity loan.  But I opened it this time and the letter reads:

I am a mother who is always warning my children (as most mothers do) about the dangers of things.  Don't get in the car with a stranger, don't help find a lost pet, don't take candy from strangers, and don't let someone in the house you don't know the list goes on and on!
Well, Sunday afternoon, my husband and I were sitting in the front room just talking away and someone knocks at the door.  I answer it and its a nicely groomed young man with a big personality.  He is a neighbor (not so sure now) and most of my … (39 comments)

fraud: Mortgage Fraud ~ its everywhere! - 07/21/07 02:41 AM
Yesterday I received the following email from a Yahoo account.
I was browsing the internet and ran across your ad.  I'm an investor in this area (Illinois) and I have 30+ buyers who are B/C credit and I'm working with them to put them in a rent to own home.  I need someone who can help my people within a week to run their credit, and give me a timeline for them to get qualified.
In addition 11% of my buyers qualify for a loan, and many of the other 89% will qualify eventually and use your services.
I will send you unlimited leads until … (15 comments)
