Today is a sad day for Carol Stream residents and students and staff of Bartlett High School. An announcement was made at school today that Lenny (Leonard) Gulczynski was killed in the line of duty in Iraq. Lenny is a 2007 Graduate of Bartlett High School and joined the Army at 17. He followed in the footsteps of his father and others in his family fighting for our Country. Dean Akey of Akey Financial Services is an Insurance Agent in St. Charles Illinois. He provides insurance for Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri. I met Dean through my husband when he joined Dean in his quest to help other bikers with Rescue Riders. We did a ride for a charity a month or so ago and I finally had the pleasure to meet Dean. I am a mother who is always warning my children (as most mothers do) about the dangers of things. Don't get in the car with a stranger, don't help find a lost pet, don't take candy from strangers, and don't let someone in the house you don't know the list goes on and on! Slow down Illinois drivers! Illinois is cracking down on speeding in Work Zones! Starting today Illinois has started with photo radar in Work Zones, for Work Zone Safety Week. Vans equipped with cameras will record the face of the driver and the license plate in work zones on the Dan Ryan and Kingery projects. Ok enough is enough on these gas prices. I NEVER fill up my Yukon because it has a large tank and I think I was afraid of what I might see. I was filling up for the upcoming weekend and the pump shut off on me! $100.00 of gasoline to fill my tank! I understand I drive a large vehicle and the tank is also large, BUT I have NEVER filled my tank to the tune of $100.00. If you are a mortgage broker or banker in the state of Illinois I URGE you to please write your representative TODAY regarding HB1478. (Commonly known as HB4050 on steroids!) It is unfair for Banks to not have to follow the same rules as what they are asking of the mortgage bankers and brokers. More than half of the home loans are originated by brokers and bankers.
