general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: The Men That I've Raised - 02/13/09 05:48 AM
I am the mother of three wonderful people.  Two young men and one young lady.
All of my children are now adults and two of them are having children of their own.  I have two grandsons that will be born in March.
This post is about my boys...sorry...men.  My oldest will be 25 next month.  He is a seargent in the Marine Corps.  He has served 3 tours in Iraq, his first one being right out of highschool at the beginning of the Iraq war.  I remember his first tour there and watching his unit being attacked on CNN.  I remember … (0 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Open House on Super Bowl Sunday? Really? - 01/25/09 12:31 AM
I don't often do Open Houses.  Statistics show that buyers generally don't purchase the home they visited through an Open House.  I share these statistics with my sellers, however on occasion a seller will request that I hold an Open House for them.
I have just such a seller, so I found an agent in my office who is looking to do Open Houses and scheduled this one for Sunday, February 1st.  I called my seller to confirm the date with him and off we go.
Two days ago, my seller called me back and asked, "Are you aware that you've scheduled the … (4 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Sappy dog stories....how furry friends come into our lives - 01/22/09 01:19 AM
A couple of years ago, my daughter, who was at that time living with me, called with a request.  She and her fiance were at the animal shelter and they had found a german sheppard named Schultz.  She wanted to know if they could bring him home.
We already had a wonderful dog named Teddy.  He was 12 years old at the time and I was concerned that they might not get along.  Also, I didn't necessarily want another pet.
Here's a picture of my Teddy.

I told my daughter she had to talk to my husband, her step dad. … (6 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: How to Simplify Your Life. - 01/14/09 10:24 AM
I don't know about you, but life can get stressful at times.  We can often feel as if we are going in 10 different directions at the same time.  When you throw business, children and a spouse into the mix, it can become overwhelming.
We all have dreams.  We have, in our minds, a picture of how we would like our lives to be...some day.
There are a couple of things that I have learned over the last 2 years from others that have really helped me to hone in on my daily activities and have allowed me to move towards … (0 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Does Your Turn Signal Work? - 12/17/08 04:09 AM
Don't you just love it when your driving down the road and the guy in front of you just stops...just stops dead in the middle of a busy road.
First, you slam on the breaks to avoid rearending him, then as you sit there, you begin to wonder if everything is all right.  "Should I go around?" you ask yourself, "does he need help?"
And, just as suddenly as he stopped, he turns left.
All of this confusion and consternation could have been avoided with one very simple, yet ingenious device, known as a turn signal.  This wonderful little instrument is … (2 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Update; The Difference Between a Vision and a Goal - 12/03/08 12:22 AM
A few months ago I wrote a post entitled What's The Difference Between a Vision and a Goal?  I believe in practicing what I preach, so I thought I would share with you some things that have happened since I wrote the article.
As many of you know, I am a new agent, so I am still in the process of getting the ball rolling.  I am happy to say that after months of pushing the ball, it is beginning to gain momentum and getting easier to push!
In the last month I have implemented some strategies that have garnished me … (3 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Why? - 10/17/08 06:12 AM
When I was coaching Real Estate Agents, I would get calls from agents who had just gone to some seminar and came back with many great ideas for their business.  They would ask my opinion on what they had just learned and we would lay out a plan of action for them to implement these wonderful ideas.  I would, of course, follow up with them only to find that they had not implemented the idea.  When I asked them why they would usually respond, "I just don't think that would work in my market," or "That's just not something I would … (1 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - 10/01/08 01:47 AM
Breast Cancer has touched my life in many ways even though I have never had it.  When I was a girl, my grandmother had breast cancer.  At that time the treatment was very radical.  She had both breasts removed and the doctors even removed the underlying muscle.  I can remember the horrible scars that covered her entire chest stretching under each of her arms.  I remember how hard it was for her to find prosthetics and how much she changed after her surgery.  She lived a very long life, but she was never the same.
In my twenties I had a friend … (2 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: A Creative Solution For The Financial Crisis - 09/30/08 08:13 AM
Here we sit...between a rock and a hard place.  Congress arguing over the best solution for the financial crisis.  As usual they look to the people to foot the bill and scare us with dire consequences if it is not passed.  After just passing the largest budget in history...we are being asked to dig even deeper into our pockets.  I've even heard it said that paying taxes is "The Patriotic Thing To Do."
I'm no financial wizard...so please forgive my ignorance...but I think that congress has failed to look outside the box for a solution.  Of course if they don't find … (0 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: Doing The Right Thing Is Always The Right Thing To Do - 09/30/08 01:07 AM
In my life I have had many mentors.  I usually choose strong successful women, however there are a few great men sprinkled in there as well.  I have worked very hard to pattern myself after these people in order to strengthen my character and emulate the principles that I have observed in them.
In the last few months, however I have seen two of my mentors do some things that were not "the right thing."
At first, I was greatly disappointed and hurt by what I observed and I must admit that I allowed this to bring me down a bit.  … (4 comments)

general: Kombrink Real Estate Group: "They Should Have Told Me" - 09/16/08 04:36 AM
As you all know, hurricane Ike came through the St. Louis area on Sunday morning and caused some major damage.  I watched the news and saw how many places were flooded and damaged in the aftermath.  My home suffered some water damage from the wind blowing up some roofing and water leaked in.  Two days before the hurricane came through, flash flood warnings were issued and people were told that there would be heavy rain and winds.
I watched the news Sunday evening and Monday and I saw an interview that just absolutely blew me out of the water.  The woman who … (2 comments)
