This Saturday, May 10th, are the Hershey’s Track and Field games. These games are open to children from 9 – 14 years old and include events for all ages. Some options are: 50/100/200 meter dash, 4×100 meter relay, long jump, and softball throw. Hershey’s is encouraging children to be active and participate in fun events, while meeting new friends. Hershey’s even provides fun facts and training for each event. The games begin at 9:30 am this Saturday, at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius. A new neighborhood may be coming to Cornelius! The proposed development, Avery Park, would consist of 99 homes on approximately 40 acres built by M/I Homes. Avery Park will be located on Bailey Road across from Hough High School. The neighborhood is described as having “integrated open space and pedestrian networks”, according to town officials.
The current zoning for that area is Rural Preservation and the proposed zoning is Neighborhood Residential. This project will be reviewed by the Cornelius Planning Board on May 21st.
