October saw a decrease in the number of units sold to 51 down 23 units from September.  Interest rates are truly at historical lows, but buyers seem to be staying out of the market due to the economy and I think some apprehension about the elections.     The Year To Date Closings for 2010 continues to lag behind 2009 numbers and October contributed to that gap increasing.  I expect to see this gap remain as we don't foresee a tax credit coming back for … (0 comments)

Everyone breathe a collective sigh of relief.  Cooler weather seems to be around the corner, but with that historically the best selling season of the year is over in Sumter South Carlina. May was a busy month for closing transactions in Sumter, South Carolina.  While seeing 84 properties sell in Sumter County, we saw the pendings fall from 194 the end of April to 174 the end of May.  We are still seeing buyers in the market, but we are also receiving lots and I mean LOTS of phone calls for rentals.  Many potential home buyers in Sumter County, still qualify for the First Time Tax Credit.  Be sure and check it out!     In May Sumter county had 86 units close, down 2 units … (1 comments)

February 2010 in Sumter county had 54 units closed.  This is up from January.  Looking are prior years it is normal to see an increase in units sold between January and February.  Buyers are still very active in Sumter County.  Many agents are experiencing more and more business.  The number of units pending increased from 127 in January to 167 at the end of February.  This is a good indication we will see more closings March and April.          Sumter County normally … (0 comments)

In November the number of units closed decrease from 111 in October 2009 to 77 in November 2009.  October 2009 had the largest number of units closed in Sumter County since August 2007!  Sumter County has been close to this number in the past two years, but has not reached this number.  This number is also very impressive due to October is normally a month of slower sales in prior years.  November did decrease to 77, but to put this in perspective in it is the fifth highest month for 2009.  November is … (2 comments)
