Market Summary Thru December 31, 2010    
December brought an increase in the number of real estate units sold in Sumter, SC from 44 in November to 61 in December.  This increase does reflect the increase in buyer activity agents saw in November and December.    The Year To Date Closings for 2010 fell short of the 2009 numbers.  2010 ended the year with 829 homes sold in Sumter vs. 2009 with 937 homes closed.     Days on Market for Sumter County, South Carolina increased in December to 197.  As I stated last month, there remains many wonderful homes … (0 comments)

Market Summary Thru November 30, 2010    
November saw another decrease in the number of units sold to 42 down 9 units from October.  We have been seeing more buyers looking at houses and we have had many houses close after December 1st that do not show on this report.   The Year To Date Closings for 2010 continues to lag behind 2009 numbers.  I d not expect to see this gap close in December and 2010 will have fewer homes closed than the prior years.     Days on Market for Sumter County, South Carolina decreased from 165 in … (2 comments)

September 2010 Sumter, SC Market Report     Market Summary Thru October 31, 2010    
October saw a decrease in the number of units sold to 51 down 23 units from September.  Interest rates are truly at historical lows, but buyers seem to be staying out of the market due to the economy and I think some apprehension about the elections.     The Year To Date Closings for 2010 continues to lag behind 2009 numbers and October contributed to that gap increasing.  I expect to see this gap remain as we don't foresee a tax credit coming back for … (0 comments)

Friday, September 24th the annual Sumter/Shaw Street Fest to salute the men and women at Shaw Air Force Base will take place on Main Street. The event is sponsered by Progress Energy, Farmer’s Telephone Co-op and the City of Sumter.
There will be live bands playing including the Mighty McFly and many free activities for children. There will also be food and beverages available. Shaw Air Force Base will also be represented with several displays of their equipment and personnel.
