colorado: Colorado Sunflowers - 08/24/11 04:23 PM
You can tell summer is almost over when the fields of Sunflowers are in full bloom.  It's a lovely, but also sad time reminding us that the lazy days of summer are almost over.
I've been haunting a sunflower field due east of Denver.  It's been a magical place that draws me in.  I visited the first time when the sun was just setting.  This came after I along with a car full of photographers had been driving around the eastern plains of Colorado searching for this nearly perfect setting.  One of our group had found the "perfect" field the week … (16 comments)

colorado: Colorado Spring Means Powder - 03/09/11 09:54 AM
The trees in the plains will be budding but up in the high-country of Colorado spring means powder.  That's white, fresh, fluffy deep powder, perfect for riding.
My son, who I must say broke his leg the very first time he ever skiied (he was 5), never gave it up.  It might because all the nurses made a big deal over him, signing his caste and making him feel very important.  Or it might be because in the instant before the pain of the break hit, he felt the all encompasing excitment that only comes from speeding downhill.
Whatever it was, … (11 comments)

colorado: Health Food Shopping Ranks on "Must Have" List - 11/19/10 09:10 AM
A popular trend I've been witnessing for quite a long time now are buyers who are requesting to be located near an organic grocery store.
I discovered this trend a few years ago when I listed a home that was in close proximity to a much applauded new Whole Foods store on Hampden.  As how sometimes things happen when marketing a property, I just mentioned the distance to the new Whole Foods store.  By surprise I began to have home buying prospects call to discuss my listing.  They all referred to the grocery store!
More recently when consulting with buyers, one … (12 comments)

colorado: Happy Holidays From Denver,Colorado... - 12/20/09 06:07 AM

The most festive building in Downtown Denver can be found across from the State Capitol Building. Each year Denver's City and County Building is dressed up for a show!
Traffic moves slowly so you have plenty of time to drive the family car by.  Or if you are a serious photographer, be sure to visit on a night when the turn off the street lights on Bannock.  Otherwise the ordinary lights ruin the festive colorful lights in your shot.

Here's another angle that is my favorite.  The building is too huge to be able to capture it completely close … (32 comments)

colorado: In Search of Goats (LOCALISM FEATURED) - 07/06/08 05:17 PM
We set out today to find and photograph the famous Rocky Mountain Goats of Mt. Evans. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day down in Denver, so off we went to the high country in search of adventure of a pleasant Sunday.
Mt. Evans was our destination. Denver residents can easy point Mt. Evans out from the city. It's an easy mountain to spot, it's the biggest one. Typically it is the mountain with the snow on top, towering above all others.
Despite the fact Mt. Evans is the highest paved road in North America and it is an hour drive … (41 comments)
