denver: We Have Tons of Fun in Denver! - 01/20/11 02:53 PM
Denver is a fun place to live!  Proof of that fact is under-construction right now, downtown on the lawn of the Civic Center.
Crews are busy building a ramp for an International Competition of skiers and snowboarders.  This gigantic ramp dwarfs the nearby buildings as it towers into the sky.
This event is a big deal. Big Air in an International event that has been held around the globe. It's debut in Denver is the first time the event has been held in the U.S. Of course the Denver location is a natural, as Colorado has the best snow on earth … (6 comments)

denver: National Western Parade ~ Denver, Colorado - 01/07/11 04:05 PM
In Denver the holidays don't end when we turn the calendar to a New Year!  In fact the fun is just beginning because every January the world comes to Denver to see the National Western Stock Show, one of the largest of it's kind in the world!
The fun begins with the traditional Parade now 17th Street.  Now this isn't any ordinary parade, it's a true Rodeo Parade complete with beautiful Rodeo Queens, horses, wagons, old-fashioned tractors and my favorite, Texan Longhorns.
They all march down 17th Street with the tall urban buildings behind them, looking very majestic and most of … (5 comments)

denver: St. Paul Enhances City Skyline! - 03/31/10 05:07 PM

St. Paul, MN.
Spring in St. Paul will be very welcome this year as the City prepares to show off their newly constructed mountain range.
In an effort to increase tourism, St. Paul, MN has rewritten the geology books for the Mississippi River.  A foreward-thinking City Council with strong encouragement from the Economic Council voted to enhance the City's skyline by having a mountain range developed.
After a short environmental study, it was determined St. Paul would benefit from winter tourism, extra snow capture from the expanded land mass and of course esthetic enhancement of having lovely snow … (37 comments)

denver: Happy Holidays From Denver,Colorado... - 12/20/09 06:07 AM

The most festive building in Downtown Denver can be found across from the State Capitol Building. Each year Denver's City and County Building is dressed up for a show!
Traffic moves slowly so you have plenty of time to drive the family car by.  Or if you are a serious photographer, be sure to visit on a night when the turn off the street lights on Bannock.  Otherwise the ordinary lights ruin the festive colorful lights in your shot.

Here's another angle that is my favorite.  The building is too huge to be able to capture it completely close … (32 comments)

denver: The Deadly Sins of Selling Your Home - 10/14/08 03:49 AM
Just back from the trenches after a few days of trying to find the perfect house for my buyers, I've got to speak my mind! We spend so much time trying to gain access to homes that it made me wonder if the sellers who are trying to sell these homes had any idea of how difficult it was on our end!
Let me state, my clients are motivated, qualified and soon to be homeless. This was not a fire drill for them, they came prepared to buy with a checkbook in hand.
Mr. and Mrs. Seller if you are anxious … (86 comments)

denver: In Search of Goats (LOCALISM FEATURED) - 07/06/08 05:17 PM
We set out today to find and photograph the famous Rocky Mountain Goats of Mt. Evans. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day down in Denver, so off we went to the high country in search of adventure of a pleasant Sunday.
Mt. Evans was our destination. Denver residents can easy point Mt. Evans out from the city. It's an easy mountain to spot, it's the biggest one. Typically it is the mountain with the snow on top, towering above all others.
Despite the fact Mt. Evans is the highest paved road in North America and it is an hour drive … (41 comments)

denver: Setting your goals high enough? - 10/29/07 04:19 PM

As the entire world knows by now the Colorado Rockies were victims of the Boomerang Broom (reverse sweep).  They lost the first four games of the World Series here last night. Read bummer!
It was a bummer for the Rockies of course, they tried but like deer frozen in the headlights they couldn't find their game. The Sox pitchers creamed them.
Mostly it was a bummer for the fans who wanted more of a contest; a game or two more.  Yes a stretch of the excitement.
Today it hit me too as I  noted the vendors on the street liquidating their overstock of … (49 comments)

denver: Denver Home for Sale ~ Sold and Closed - 04/24/07 04:55 PM
Cozy, Comfortable and Affordable, it does exist in Denver, Colorado!
This home was built in 1949 and has some very unique features. The front of the exterior is a log style home, while the rear addition is entirely of brick. The homeowners have taken meticulous care of this home. It has an updated kitchen with new cabinets and appliances (range-oven, dishwasher and refrigerator). The best part is the family room addition with the wood-burning fireplace (a feature you won't find in a new home)!
There are two bedrooms plus a den. The den has the option of being able to convert to a … (11 comments)

denver: Denver ~ We don't need no stinkin' mountain! - 12/22/06 09:43 AM
Yesterday while the majority of the sane folks waited inside their warm homes, reading books, watching TV and cleaning an occasional closet, others not nearly so sane ventured out in search of adventure.  Snow does something to the brains of snow riders. They have a strong need, a craving to ride the snow, no matter how far they must travel, they go off in search of the perfect ride.
One such person is my daughter, Vali Wimberly.  Yesterday Vali and a few of her friends found adventure atop the roof of the Colorado History Museum.  They were photographed by CNN, The Rocky … (34 comments)

denver: Drive by BPOs ~ to do or not to do? - 12/19/06 01:31 AM
For well over 10 years I have been involved with several banks or asset managers doing drive by BPO's . For those of you who are not aware of what a "drive by BPO" is..it's when you drive by a property to determine;
it's still standing it's occupied or vacant what it's value is based on the neighborhood if it needs repairs Can actual values be determined from just viewing the outside? That question is loaded. In doing my valuations I tended to be on the conservative side. I generally assumed the property was NOT in good condition, unless the landscaping … (38 comments)

denver: REALTOR...It's NOT about you! - 12/09/06 09:47 AM
Throughout history we can trace changes in society, brought on by cause and effects of certain events.  Our country went from agrarian, to industrial to the information age.  Each transformation of society brought with it new practices and ways of living and going about our daily lives.
The progression of real estate practices has been effected by societal and economic changes too.  For those of us that have been in the business for 20 years or more, we have personally witnessed and experienced these industry changes.  Let's explore these changes.
Owner Centric ~ many old timers will recognized this period of … (42 comments)

denver: Let's Compare My Apples to Your Oranges... - 11/29/06 04:47 PM
Foreclosures are a hot topic these days.  Some people say Colorado is #1 in foreclosures, others say it's not so!   Who do we believe and why?
The Denver Business Journal featured a good story on this very topic, "Is Colorado really worst in foreclosures?"   The answer to this question is, "It Depends who you ask!"
Who Keeps the Stats on Foreclosures?
There are three sources on Colorado foreclosure statistics.  What is surprising is none of them agree!  RealtyTrac out of Irvine, California has given Colorado the dubious distinction of being the #1 State for foreclosures for 8 months straight!  The folks at the Mortgage … (11 comments)

denver: Erin Toll, Director of the Colorado Division of Real Estate - 11/21/06 10:58 AM

Marriott Hotel, Lone Tree, Colorado
In a long anticipated visit, Erin Toll the new Director of the Colorado Division of Real Estate addressed a standing-room only group of WCR members and guests.
Erin who reminded us she is only on the job 10 weeks, is digging in and sorting out the mess she inherited.  According to Erin, when she set foot into her new office the Real Estate Commission had a back log of 260 complaints.  We Colorado Brokers know they stopped answering the telephones awhile back.  The problems have been compounding at the Real Estate Commission may soon see some action.  Erin got … (20 comments)

denver: The Largest Soccer Complex in The World...right here in Colorado! - 11/17/06 02:35 PM
Visiting the Mother Turf
Today has been a day of awe and excitment.  My hubby and I took a tour, led by my client of the new Colorado Rapids Stadium.  We learned some amazing facts on our little field trip.
Dick's Sporting Goods has acquired the naming rights of this impressive new field. It will be called, "Dick's Sporting Goods Park".  If you would like to take a flyover you are welcome to see the artist renderings. The Stadium is the largest soccer complex in the World.   Located just north of Denver's old Stapleton Airport, in Commerce City, Dick's is breathing new life … (19 comments)
