rochester: Christmas in Rochester: Don't Miss This Computerized Light Display! - 12/12/12 11:34 PM
Looking for something festive to do in the Greater Rochester area this holiday season? There's a hidden treasure in Henrietta that won't cost a cent but will provide over half an hour of holiday enjoyment!
A homeowner in Henrietta has created his own computerized Christmas light show, T2Lights. Using over 16,000 Christmas lights, he's set his display to music that can be heard over a radio station powered by his own low power FM transmitter. It rivals any display you've seen on the internet!
Here's a preview of my favorite song:

rochester: Rochester, New York... A Great Place to Live! - 02/02/12 08:01 AM
As someone who grew up in the Rochester area and couldn't wait to return after a brief stint living elsewhere, I can't say enough about how great this area is. Between the abundant water sources, fantastic colleges, opportunities for family fun, and cultural events, it really is an amazing place to live.
Finally, someone made a video that illustrates many of the positive aspects of living in Rochester! The only thing they forgot to mention is our stable housing market!

rochester: Arkansas vs. Rochester... Why It's Important to Work With a Local Expert! - 02/19/11 05:38 AM
As a real estate professional who is used to working in Rochester, it's interesting to experience a different side of real estate.
My grandmother, who lived in the tiny town of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away two years ago. My father is the executor of her estate. He and his siblings have been trying to sell her house in Arkansas for a year. They listed it with with a small brokerage that is pretty much the only show in town and have been waiting not-so-patiently ever since.
It's amazing to me how slow the real estate market is in Horseshoe Bend. We've been … (2 comments)

rochester: Happy Winds-day in Rochester!! - 02/18/11 08:26 AM
Wow! It's a windy day here in the Rochester area!
It's been howling outside all day long. I took my dog for a walk this morning and for once was glad he's overweight, otherwise he might have blown away!
I also received a text message from one of my sellers this afternoon while I was running errands. He said that if the wind kept up my sign would probably have to be hammered in again, since it was starting to lean a little bit already. He kindly offered to do it, but it reminded me that I'll have to check all my other … (2 comments)

rochester: It's Valentine's Day... Do You LOVE Your Home? - 02/14/11 03:02 AM
It's Valentine's Day! I hope you all enjoy spending some time with your loved one, whoever that may be. Personally, I'll be spending the evening with a Valentine who is furry and drools!
Valentine's Day is also a good time to ask yourself an important question... do you LOVE your home?
No home is perfect. There's always something that can be done. But... are you in the right home for you at this point in your life?
There's a movement in this county called right-sizing. Gone are the days of McMansions. Now, homeowners in Rochester and around the country are striving … (0 comments)

rochester: The Housing Market is Stalling? You Could Have Fooled Me! - 07/22/10 09:07 AM
On the front page of Yahoo, there is currently an article entitled, "Why the housing market is stalling again". It's just another reminder to me that you shouldn't always believe what you read in the national headlines. Real estate is local, and in my experience, this is not the case in Rochester!
Our market did stall after the tax credits expired. That much is true. However, activity has started to swell tremendously in this area in the past few weeks. Ever since the 4th of July holiday, buyers and sellers have been coming out of the woodwork. It has been a long-anticipated boost to our … (5 comments)

rochester: Summer in Rochester ROCKS!! - 06/28/10 05:52 AM
Last night, I was reminded of what a fantastic place the Rochester area is in the summertime. I attended a free concert at the north end of Conesus Lake. One of my favorite bands, Girlyman, played as part of Livonia's summer concert series at Vitale Park. We all sat around on folding chairs and beach blankets, watched children playing and people swimming off their anchored boats, and listened to Girlyman's soaring harmonies. The rain even held off until just after the concert ended. It was a wonderful evening.

The Vitale Park concert series is only one of a plethora of concerts … (0 comments)

rochester: Something Deliciously Different to do in Rochester! - 04/25/10 07:52 AM
Looking for something fun and different to do in Rochester this weekend? I may have just the solution.
Recently, my mother, my friend Sarah, and I spent a "girls' day" together. The highlight was having afternoon tea at La-Tea-Da! Tea Room and Parlour. What a fun experience!
Upon entering the charming, purple Victorian house on the corner of Park Avenue and Alexander Street, we were encouraged to don old-fashioned hats and other accessories. We were then seated, and our "Nippy" (an old-fashioned term for a server who goes above and beyond the call of duty) shared the daily specials and took our tea … (0 comments)

rochester: Keeping Sellers In the Loop? Priceless. - 03/27/10 10:41 AM
It's amazing to me how many sellers I speak with who have had bad experiences with real estate agents in the past. When I question them about it, it seems like 90% of the time it's because they felt the agent didn't communicate with them or keep them "in the loop" about the sale of their home. I've heard sellers say this twice in the past two days.
I'm constantly stunned when I hear about agents who don't communicate. To me, communication is the cornerstone of every succesful real estate transaction. I try to put myself in my sellers' shoes. If it … (8 comments)
