Soap nuts---the dried berries of tropical trees--are the latest way to go green in the laundry room.  The kernels release saponin (a natural cleaning agent), which removes stains as well as detergent does.  What's more, soap nuts are hypoallergenic and safe on fabrics.  After five washes, chuck them on the compost heap.  Talk about a renewable resource!  You can find them at buysoapnuts.com, from $2.50!

We have all heard of the benefits of green tea.  But, it is especially healthy if it is freshly made green tea.  Here are some of the health benefits:
1.  Help with your weight.  Overweight or obese exercisers burned off 3 more pounds and 7 percent more belly fat when they drank green tea instead of another beverage with the same calories, according to a   study.
2.  Protesction against cancer.  Regular drinkers were 12 percent less likely to develop breast cancer than nondrinkers, according to a Chinese study.

I found a great article in a Rachel Ray magazine, about how Green is Beautiful.   Many of us are trying to become Greener these days.   Here are 3 ways to get started in your Green quest!
1.  No need to overhaul your entire beauty routine.  Make the green swap with one daily product, preferably something that sits on your skin all day like a deoderant or moisturizer, so you can actually reap the benefits.
