Every so often something really cool happens and next Tuesday, January 25th, it's going to be happening here in Conifer, Colorado! I Just learned that at 10AM next Tuesday the Colorado Army National Guard will be landing a big Chinook helicopter at the West Jefferson Elementary School in Aspen Park.This baby is one of the big double rotor machines so it should be pretty impressive. Backwash from the rotors should be substantial. Once landed, visitors will be allowed access to the helicopter to look around and ask questions. I'm not sure which model it will be but it should be similar to this. The public is invited so come on out if you can. If you do, be sure to get there early to allow time to park & find a vantage point for viewing during landing. The Landing Zone (LZ) will be restricted until after landing and everything is safely shut down. Please respect the LZ and don't try to get too close before they are ready. Also, please respect local merchants and residences by parking legally. I'm going to do my best to be there but I have an existing appointment that I'm going to try to reschedule.
