Wordless Wednesday: Day of the Dead! I created this artwork of a Sugar Skull a few years ago... celebrating Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. In Latin cultures they celebrate and honor the dead by painting their faces and creating altars for loved ones. Dia de los Muertos- or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican celebration, and a day to celebrate, remember and honor those who have passed. On this day, in Mexico, the streets near the cemeteries are filled with decorations of papel picado, flowers, candy calveras (skeletons & skulls), and parades. It is believed that the spirit of the dead visit their families on October 31st and leave on November 2.
