We saw Arnold Palmer here today at LaQuinta Country Club-- but he was'nt playing-- he was following his Grandson, Sam Saunders!  Sam is playing in the Bob Hope Classic this year and his proud Grandpa is behind the ropes watching! Here is a shot of him warming up!
We had a few sprinkles today, but it was still great fun to be out watching the pros and walking around this great course.  More Bob Hope Classic updates coming soon!

la quinta country club: ACTIVE RAIN-- WE HAVE CONTACT! - 01/18/10 03:54 PM
I am an ACTIVERAIN believer... I meant it!  I invite and and I shout the praises of the ACTIVERAIN experience.  To me it is theraputic, and inspiring and a chance to share and learn.
Then today... breakthrough!  I was contacted by a complete stranger who found my blog via GOOGLE, and connected with my story.  It was not my blogs that got her... IT WAS MY BIO!  (so go write one!)  She found common ground in my background, (golf), my location, (La Quinta), where I met my husband (The Nest), and his hometown, (Pasadena)-- alot of random connections resulted in an … (14 comments)

la quinta country club: Even the Experts are Buying Homes - 01/16/10 04:01 AM

Home prices have hit bottom in most areas of the country, but they're not like a rubber ball. Sellers can't expect much of a bounce.
At the Center for Economic Policy Research, in Washington D.C., analysts are predicting that the pricing arrow is pointing up, but not very far. There are still too many foreclosed homes on the market.
So, what did the center's co-director do? He bought a house. He doesn't expect its value to rise much in the foreseeable future. But the home had features he loved. The price was affordable, and the loan's interest rate … (1 comments)

la quinta country club: La Quinta Country Club.. FIRE & ICE Ball - 01/14/10 08:49 AM

THE NEW CLUBHOUSE AT La Quinta Country Club, was the setting for the FIRE & ICE BALL last weekend!  With 200+ attending the event was an amazing success-- decorations of ice scultures and blocks of carved ice on each table with candles glowing created a magical setting.  It was held in the Eisenhower Pavillion-- with entertainment by Mike Costley and his Band...
For dinner we were treated with a Poached Lobster and Pear Salad, and a Truffle-Mushroom encrusted Filet-- followed by an enticing Chocolate Truffle Bomb!
To cap off a perfect evening, fellow Member Andy Williams sang … (3 comments)

la quinta country club: Has Housing Reached A Turning Point Or A Point Of No Return? - 01/12/10 03:31 AM

While the pundits and politicians discuss the housing crisis and the various ways to effect a recovery, the question to consider is: Has housing reached a turning point or a point of no return? It appears that housing is unlikely to return to its most recent glory days. But that’s not necessarily a negative interpretation; it just means that the housing market of the future will look dramatically different from that of the past decade.

We now know that the housing boom of 2004 – 2006 was temporary and artificial. It wasn’t an indication of forever escalating prices; … (1 comments)

la quinta country club: It's Sunday Afternoon and Donuts are On Sale! - 01/10/10 03:52 PM

Many of you may remember when you had a Hometown Bakery and about 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon all remaining baked goods would go on sale.  It helped the owners clear out inventory and purchasers would take advantage of the lower prices.  Usually if you didn't make your purchase by 4 p.m. all of the really good ones were gone.
That is the current Real Estate Market!  And buyers need to get their shopping done early before all of the really good one's are gone.  Just think about it; Prices are Great, Interest Rates are Great, and the Inventory is … (1 comments)

la quinta country club: Have You Set Up Your Facebook Account YET? - 01/08/10 12:22 PM

I know most of you are already signed up and hooked up to the Facebook phenomenom-- and you may or may not be using in your business. Some Agents prospect on Facebook, others reconnect with classmates and old friends, others post listings and hopefully attract clients. I have been building my Facebook Friend list and try to post information about my community, current events, tips on the latest holiday, and even some RE stuff. I have reconnected with many lost friends, family, classmates and old mini-tour pals. It seems to me that by expanding my sphere, I can build my … (4 comments)

la quinta country club: CAN YOU BE A PART-TIME REALTOR? - 01/07/10 03:52 PM

Can you really be effective in this, or any market, if you only show up part of the time?  My Broker, Lori Bowers, wrote a blog today about interviewing new Agents-- alot of them felt they could just be part-time Agents, play alot of golf, do lunch with friends, and work from home.  You can follow Lori's blog below-- but there is more to this story....

Interviewing agents to join our team, Real Estate is not for everyone
I was that Agent.... I love golf... and I love lunch... and shopping and....working from home. I wanted to … (7 comments)

la quinta country club: AFTER THE DEAL IS DONE, SHOULD YOU FIRE THE CLIENT? - 01/03/10 10:57 AM
I just finished reading Russel Ray's blog --
Past performances are not always good predictors of future performance
and I agree with him about predicting the future.  My broker recommended that I "FIRE" a client after completing a difficult sale.  The client seemed very unhappy with me, my TC, my Escow Officer, everything... but after the fact is now friendly and engaging-- and seeking my help for future transactions.
I could not bring myself to "break up with him" when we met last week... and hope to stay on good terms.  Who knows if we will work together in the … (18 comments)

la quinta country club: 10 for Oh-10: New Year's Resolutions That Will Blow Your Crabby Competition Away - 01/01/10 09:49 AM

We will remember 2009 as the year everyone was CRABBY and CUSTOMER SERVICE sucked. This was the year that  businesses behaved badly.
But here's the good news: In 2010, this has left the window of opportunity WIDE OPEN for anyone who wants to steal business from competitors. Here's why:
In the so called "new economy" of 2009, business strategy revolved around this miserable mindset:
Let's fire everyone we can, cut the pay of those left (they're lucky to have a job, after all), then try to operate normally with one third of the staff. Let customers figure it out. Send them to our … (1 comments)

la quinta country club: Do DESIGNATIONS matter? - 12/27/09 11:02 AM
I am working on my E-PRO designation-- basically to earn a badge that confirms my knowledge of the internet, proficiency in on-line marketing, and my passion for Web 2.0  What about the other designations?  Which ones matter to clients?
We live in a resort community with a large number of retirees... should I be a Senior Specialist?  I also am located in Southern California-- Does that mean I should be a Divorce Specialist as it pertains to Real Estate? I'm a scratch golfer... Do I qualify for a  "golf community" designation because I know my way around a golf course?

la quinta country club: Do you want to sell the house next door? - 12/27/09 10:19 AM
I recently listed a house on my street-- and was thrilled to get the listing!  I love the area, love the neighborhood, love the views... I'm hoping I can convey my enthusiasm for my home to any prospects looking at my new listing!  What a great way to establish myself as an "expert" here-- by promoting my business right here at home. I already know the HOA info, Country Club info, Tennis and Pool specs, and most of the neighbors! Plus, it makes it easy to check on the property, do open houses, replenish flyers-- It just does'nt get any better!  … (6 comments)

la quinta country club: Will clients care if I am E-PRO Certified? - 12/27/09 09:35 AM

I am close to completing my E-PRO class and will be certified shortly.  I consider myself internet and computer saavy-- I have my own domain name, 2 web-sites,(1 Real Estate + 1 Lifestyle),  Facebook Fan-Page, LinkedIn, Plaxo, 2 twitter profiles, ActiveRain and an Outside Blog.  But I had all these things going BEFORE I even started the E-PRO class.  I agree E-Pro has cnnected me to a few new RE Community Sites and has given me a few new marketing ideas-- but has it made me a better Realtor?
I mainly wanted to complete the … (6 comments)

la quinta country club: Are we the new Masons? - 12/23/09 05:45 PM
Are ActiveRainers the new Masons...?? The new secret society with special handshakes, passwords and maybe a decoder ring?  Wordy C wrote about the community we belong to, and how we will give other ActiveRainers a break, a referral, a leg up and more!  I am excited to be a part of it--- but I REALLY  would like to see it in ACTION!  Do you just run into ActiveRainers all the time or do you have to wait for RainCAMP? dO we need an ActiveRainRADAR?
ARE WE CONNECTED ENOUGH TO KNOW AN ACTIVE RAINER WHEN WE SEE ONE>???
