la quinta country club: Christmas in La Quinta with Sunny Skies and a cold a blistery 65 degrees
- 12/23/09 04:54 PM
Via The Lori Bowers Group: I am sitting here in my office, looking out the window at the sunny blue skies and the mountains in the distance. It is 65 right now, that is a little chilly for us so we consider this winter weather. It is funny to see people walking by in shorts and t shirts with sandals talking about the great weather, while the locals have there warm sweaters and boots on. I love La Quinta this time of year, people come from all over the world to enjoy the holidays in such a beautiful, quaint place.

la quinta country club: They are'nt buying a house, but we connected!
- 12/21/09 04:13 PM
Today I had floor-time and it was a cool, cloudy day here in the So. California Desert-- highs in the 60's are our "winter days". I was bundled up in turtle-neck and sweater and went out front to talk to a couple who had stopped to check out our flyers. They were dressed like it was a warm and balmy day-- and I easily guessed it--- they were from Canada. They were'nt in the market for buying or selling-- but asked me for restaurant info and I found out they were staying all the way up in Palm Springs-- 45min away

la quinta country club: How do these BANKS stay in BUSINESS?? OH wait...
- 12/16/09 05:02 PM
I called for an update today on a short sale that I have been working on since October and was told that I did not have authorization--- WHAT? I have been talking to them (and getting info) for months, and now I am not AUTHORIZED? The nice lady told me that actually, the file was short on authorization docs, and pretty much short on everthing else. Hmmmm. So I was given a new set of numbers for faxing and I returned to the machine and sent off my 69 pages to the appropriate departments. Am I back at square ONE ?

la quinta country club: BE SPONTANEOUS!
- 12/14/09 03:24 PM
I'm writing again about my experience tonite--- sometimes when you head out on a $2500 lease showing, and a $500,000 foreclosure... you can end up at $798,000 short sale or showing your own $1,250,000 listing. Especially here in the Coachella Valley... it is a playground for all kinds of people who are looking for a 2nd or 3rd home and you never know what you may end up showing on a Monday Night! If you keep an open mind-- and are flexible and spontaneous--- the SKY is the LIMIT!

la quinta country club: MEET WITH YOUR CLIENTS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!
- 12/14/09 03:01 PM
I have a new client who I showed numerous properties to in a middle price-range last week. Today, she drove down my street on her way home and asked about a few other properties...( in a much higher price range)... she also asked about leasing options. I told her I would call her and maybe we would go look at something...... I went inside and got on the computer... I really did'nt have anything new I wanted to show her in the upper range-- that I could arrange on such a short notice. So I looked up some leases and came

la quinta country club: NOW I KNOW... what it FEELS like to be a TOP PRODUCER!
- 12/09/09 03:33 PM
My Broker,LORI BOWERS, works non-stop because she JUGGLES many CLIENTS at the same time... MULTIPLE DEALS, manages and inspires our TEAM, and is always there for us should we have questions or need support. I am usually happy to have 1 or 2 DEALS in the hopper-- and a client flying or driving in to look at properties once a week or so. Sometimes 2.... sometimes none. I don't mean I went and cashed a big check--- I DO mean that I finally got home near dark and was almost ready to close my eyes and go to sleep... and it

la quinta country club: Are you ENGAGING?
- 12/06/09 02:38 PM
Are you participating in your life? Are you a joiner? Do you go out of your way to engage people and participate in local and community activities? I have found that the more I ENGAGE-- THE MORE I AM REWARDED! By entering events, volunteering to help on committees, and actively participating in golf tournaments, charity fund-raisers, membership activities-- I am getting more and more business. GETTING BY GIVING-- WHAT A CONCEPT! I played in a golf tournament this weekend-- and before the weekend was over-- I had a new buyer, a new listing, and a great showing on a million-dollar fairway

la quinta country club: Using Your Email's CC and BCC Features for Fun and Profit (Okay, Maybe Just Profit?)
- 12/02/09 03:38 PM
Once, I was working with some clients who were....challenging, to say the least. They seemed to distrust everyone involved in the process, and both husband and wife alluded to suing the other party in the transaction more than once, as well as their own lender. They never pursued any legal action, thankfully, since they had no case of any kind. Since they had trust issues, I decided that one of the best things I could do was to use the "BCC" (blind carbon copy) feature on any emails I sent to the other parties involved, so that they could see

la quinta country club: TIGER WOODS story FLAUNTS THE POWER OF TWITTER!
- 11/30/09 12:16 PM
The Tiger-Gate story is an amazing example of the power of Twitter and the Internet-- I received a BNO news report on my Blackberry 45 minutes before it was released by CNN. Thanks to Google and Twitter the info came out almost an hour before I saw the crawl on the bottom of my ESPN football screen. This is why the internet is going to be the RUIN of major news networks and traditional ways of communicating. Now, the Tiger story is not the most important thing-- and there is really no reason we all needed to have the early scoop--

If you live, work, and play in a Country Club area-- and this is where you sell, or hope to sell homes-- It is imperatvie that you know the options, packages, and memberships available for prospective buyers! Is it an equity-club? Are there Junior Memberships available? Non-Resident options? Social Memberships or Tennis? What is the policy for Family Play? Can you name a "designated partner"? What is the initiation fee and what are the monthly dues? Do you need references or a sponsor to join? In these economic times-- Country Clubs are getting resourceful to attract new members-- many are offering

la quinta country club: WANT NEW CLIENTS? DON'T FORGET ABOUT FAMILY!
- 11/29/09 10:41 AM
I had a houseful of company this weekend-- starting last Wednesday and continuing on until tomorrow. I found some time to show properties Friday and again today--- But the bonus for the weekend came when my Aunt and Uncle from Palos Verdes revealed that they have been looking in their area for an investment property and have found the prices too steep. It turns out that there are many reasonable investment properties in our area that would make great investment/income properites in their price range! So I am on the case-- and they are planning on coming back out with the

la quinta country club: BOTHERING AGENTS ON a HOLIDAY-- FOLLOW-UP!
- 11/29/09 09:45 AM
I wrote a short and simple blog over the Holiday about an actual question that came up-- whether to bother Agents over a Holiday weekend. It must have hit home, because it was featured and I received 86 comments so far! To follow-up, I did make the call. It went to VM, but then the Agent texted me back within the hour. I was able to show my clients a fair number of properties-- and they were very grateful.... they live in another state and came out to visit family for Thanksgiving. We actually revisited a few of the homes again

la quinta country club: Is it OKAY to BOTHER other AGENTS on THANKSGIVING?
- 11/26/09 08:53 AM
I debated on whether to call a fellow Agent to ask about a property today. I have a client in town for the holiday and wondered if several of her homes were occupied over the weekend. Go direct, it says.... but maybe not over Thanksgiving. If it was my listing-- I would want the call-- and would do what I could to show the property. But I also have respect for my owners- and sure don't want to disturb them. What is the protocol for calling an Agent on a holiday?
