Speechless Sunday:  Driving Home from the Market

We had our first "winter storm" this weekend, meaning we had some clouds, sprinkles, and the day time temp dropped to 70 degrees.  Of course, the sun doesn't stay away long here in the desert.  I was driving home from the market and pulled over to capture this shot... the light and the sky were so clear.

la quinta: Christmas in La Quinta with Sunny Skies and a cold a blistery 65 degrees - 12/23/09 04:54 PM
Via The Lori Bowers Group: I am sitting here in my office, looking out the window at the sunny blue skies and the mountains in the distance. It is 65 right now, that is a little chilly for us so we consider this winter weather. It is funny to see people walking by in shorts and t shirts with sandals talking about the great weather, while the locals have there warm sweaters and boots on.  I love La Quinta this time of year, people come from all over the world to enjoy the holidays in such a beautiful, quaint place.

la quinta: They are'nt buying a house, but we connected! - 12/21/09 04:13 PM
Today I had floor-time and it was a cool, cloudy day here in the So. California Desert-- highs in the 60's are our "winter days".  I was bundled up in turtle-neck and sweater and went out front to talk to a couple who had stopped to check out our flyers.  They were dressed like it was a warm and balmy day-- and I easily guessed it--- they were from Canada.
They were'nt in the market for buying or selling-- but asked me for restaurant info and I found out they were staying all the way up in Palm Springs-- 45min away … (4 comments)

la quinta: BE SPONTANEOUS! - 12/14/09 03:24 PM
I'm writing again about my experience tonite--- sometimes when you head out on a $2500 lease showing, and a $500,000 foreclosure... you can end up at $798,000 short sale or showing your own $1,250,000 listing.  Especially here in the Coachella Valley... it is a playground  for all kinds of people who are looking for a 2nd or 3rd home and you never know what you may end up showing on a Monday Night!  If you keep an open mind-- and are flexible and spontaneous--- the SKY is the LIMIT!

la quinta: Foreclosures and Other Home Bargains in La Quinta's Hidden Canyon - 12/14/09 02:45 PM

Hidden Canyon is one of my favorite communities in La Quinta and one which now offers some fleeting home bargains for those ready to pounce, either on foreclosures or short sales.

I did an Open House just this weekend on a superb highly upgraded home of 4 bedrooms/3.5 baths with gorgeous south-facing views of the encircling Santa Rosa Mountains. The 3031 sf home offers amenities including a sunken outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, swim-up bar, waterfall spa, high-end bathrooms, custom stonework, hardwood floors, new interior paint, granite and travertine. Each of the bathrooms has distinctive tile or stonework. The … (0 comments)

la quinta: WANT NEW CLIENTS? DON'T FORGET ABOUT FAMILY! - 11/29/09 10:41 AM
I had a houseful of company this weekend-- starting last Wednesday and continuing on until tomorrow.  I found some time to show properties Friday and again today--- But the bonus for the weekend came when my Aunt and Uncle from Palos Verdes revealed that they have been looking in their area for an investment property and have found the prices too steep.  It turns out that there are many reasonable investment properties in our area that would make great investment/income properites in their price range!  So I am on the case-- and they are planning on coming back out with the … (5 comments)

la quinta: BOTHERING AGENTS ON a HOLIDAY-- FOLLOW-UP! - 11/29/09 09:45 AM
I wrote a short and simple blog over the Holiday about an actual question that came up-- whether to bother Agents over a Holiday weekend.  It must have hit home, because it was featured and I received 86 comments so far!
To follow-up,  I did make the call.  It went to VM, but then the Agent texted me back within the hour.  I was able to show my clients a fair number of properties-- and they were very grateful.... they live in another state and came out to visit family for Thanksgiving.  We actually revisited a few of the homes again … (5 comments)

la quinta: Is it OKAY to BOTHER other AGENTS on THANKSGIVING? - 11/26/09 08:53 AM
I debated on whether to call a fellow Agent to ask about a property today.  I have a client in town for the holiday and wondered if several of her homes were occupied over the weekend.  Go direct, it says.... but maybe not over Thanksgiving.  If it was my listing-- I would want the call-- and would do what I could to show the property.  But I also have respect for my owners- and sure don't want to disturb them.  What is the protocol for calling an Agent on a holiday?
