New Year's Day 2010 ~ Last night marked the last "Blue Moon" on New Year's Eve for the next nineteen years.  I had planned to capture it before turning in, but the best laid plans...
This morning I woke at 6:45, grabbed the camera, and set off to capture that same Blue Moon before it disappeared over the western horizon.  As dawn broke, I was at the edge of Saguaro National Park and took this shot to share with you on the first day of the New Year.
Thanks for stopping by my blog; I expect that this will … (5 comments)

livethedesertlife: Do you want to sell the house next door? - 12/27/09 10:19 AM
I recently listed a house on my street-- and was thrilled to get the listing!  I love the area, love the neighborhood, love the views... I'm hoping I can convey my enthusiasm for my home to any prospects looking at my new listing!  What a great way to establish myself as an "expert" here-- by promoting my business right here at home. I already know the HOA info, Country Club info, Tennis and Pool specs, and most of the neighbors! Plus, it makes it easy to check on the property, do open houses, replenish flyers-- It just does'nt get any better!  … (6 comments)

livethedesertlife: NOW I KNOW... what it FEELS like to be a TOP PRODUCER! - 12/09/09 03:33 PM
My Broker,LORI BOWERS, works non-stop because she JUGGLES many CLIENTS at the same time... MULTIPLE DEALS, manages and inspires our TEAM, and is always there for us should we have questions or need support.  I am usually happy to have 1 or 2 DEALS  in the hopper-- and a client flying or driving in to look at  properties once a week or so.  Sometimes 2.... sometimes none.
I don't mean I went and cashed a big check--- I DO mean that I finally got home near dark and was almost ready to close my eyes and go to sleep... and it … (4 comments)

If you live, work, and play in a Country Club area-- and this is where you sell, or hope to sell homes-- It is imperatvie that you know the options, packages, and memberships available for prospective buyers!  Is it an equity-club?  Are there Junior Memberships available?  Non-Resident options?  Social Memberships or Tennis? What is the policy for Family Play?  Can you name a "designated partner"?  What is the initiation fee and what are the monthly dues?  Do you need references or a sponsor to join?

livethedesertlife: WANT NEW CLIENTS? DON'T FORGET ABOUT FAMILY! - 11/29/09 10:41 AM
I had a houseful of company this weekend-- starting last Wednesday and continuing on until tomorrow.  I found some time to show properties Friday and again today--- But the bonus for the weekend came when my Aunt and Uncle from Palos Verdes revealed that they have been looking in their area for an investment property and have found the prices too steep.  It turns out that there are many reasonable investment properties in our area that would make great investment/income properites in their price range!  So I am on the case-- and they are planning on coming back out with the … (5 comments)

livethedesertlife: La Quinta's NEW spot; The Wine Bar. - 11/17/09 09:06 AM

La Quinta's NEW spot; The Wine Bar.  I love Old Town La Quinta, but I noticed last season that there wasn't any music!  What??  There is now, and I am told there will be more this season.  The Wine Bar in Old Town is fabulous.  It is owned and run by a very intense fella, Justin, who closed up his wine bar in Palm Desert on El Paseo to focus entirely on his wine bar in Old Town, La Quinta.  It has paid off.  In the middle of August, I stopped in for a glass of wine and some apps … (0 comments)

livethedesertlife: Tweetdeck or Hoot Suite - 11/08/09 12:06 PM
I have tried both of these Twitter helpers... and I have found that Hoot Suite actually offers more.  It came later in the Tweet craze and has had time to learn from other formats.  With Hoot Suite you can actually track your tweets and find out how many clicks you are getting on any of your Twitter accts... and follow individual tweets.  This can be a terrific tool for letting us know which tweets are reaching our clients/friends.... plus you can even see the regional demographics on each tweet.  Are your tweets being followed in Brazil?  I wonder????

How To Find Good Deals As The Buyers Market Comes To An End
At some point in their lives, every home buyer in America has wondered "Is now the best time to buy a home?" In this 3-minute video, NBC's The Today Show does a good job of answering the question.
The conclusion? Yes, but not if you're going to overpay.
The Buyers Market is ending, we learn, as home prices rise across most of the country.  Pockets of opportunity remain, however, and the focused home buyer can still find a "good deal".
Some of the video's tips include:

livethedesertlife: Where we stand -Shakey ground or solid footing- Coachella Valley sees signs of both - 10/29/09 05:37 PM

Mountains may shelter the Coachella Valley from undesirable weather patterns that affect those beyond the desert, but could protect us from the economy. Despite its resort lifestyle, the desert has felt the pain of the past 18 months. However, vast resources also put the valley on the cutting edge of what economists think will be the way out of the recession. Since the recession started the housing prices have fallen further than they had risen. Retail sales shriveled as national chains closed and left and local shops too. All three major golf tournament revenues were down more than 20%. Convention and tourism … (0 comments)
