I have always tried to think outside the box with my closing gifts. Some clients appreciate a personal gift, while others would be just as happy with a restaurant gift card. Sometimes I choose to share my artwork as a token of appreciation for my clients trust in me with their real estate transaction. Many of my sales are second homes that my clients use during the winter season, then they return to their permament residence for the summer. After reading the instructions for this challenge, I clearly saw how many of these parts are related. The business practices that we employ and put in place are interwoven in our routine and the cycles of life and our profession. The best business practice that I put into play in my first year was taking the advise of my "mentor" and attending my first Coaching seminar put on by Tom Ferry. Last year was my worst ever in real estate. I went months and months without a buyer, without a sale. I started looking for other things to do. I wrote a cookbook, I created artwork, aprons, and pillows and sold them in a local artist co-op, I threw parties and BBQ's and played some golf. I even applied for some "real jobs"...
