Suffolk County is offering down payment assistance for first time buyers! Starting May 1, 2009, applications will be available from the Community Development office. First come, first serve, so if you qualify, make sure you get your application in. This program is available to first time buyers (or if you have not owned a home in the past 3 years), those who live or work in Suffolk County as of April 1, 2009, and who meet the income guidelines. suffolk county: Ever hear of a STAND DOWN?

My 9 year old son came home from school today (Otsego Elementary School) and educated me on something called a "Stand Down". First thought that came to me was "What did he do now?" Sounded like detention or something. Anyway, it's a service which provides assistance to Veterans who are in need of help, in the form of healthcare, employment, housing, etc. On the day of the Stand Down, which happens to be April 11, 2008, all agencies will meet in one place and provide helpful information and new items to the Veterans in attendance.
