Saw this article today in the O.C. Register and have to agree.   Though the city of Irvine is often described as a "family" town, it is a sought after home location for many singles. As noted in the article, 33% of the residents are single!

Here are three examples of why my single clients like it:

 Did you hear the news today, first-time home buyers, the California Association of Realtors, yes that is us Realtors, understands one of the major hurdles you have towards purchasing your first home is security with your job.  With that hurdle in mind, a new program was been introduced.
The program is called the C.A.R. Housing Affordability Fund Mortgage Protection Program (C.A.R.H.A.F. MPP) and provides first-time home buyers who lose their jobs due to layoffs may be eligible to receive up to $1,500 per month for up to six months to help make their mortgage payments. A quick look at the new Housing Bill signed into law last week!
A temporary increase in mortgage revenue bonds to refinance subprime mortgages. Lenders would write down qualified mortgages to 85% of the current appraised value and qualified borrowers would get a new FHA 30-year fixed mortgage at 90% of appraised value. Borrowers would have to share 50% of all future appreciation with FHA. The loan limit for this program is $550,440 nationwide.
