However very few understands the complexity of the process and the hurdles they have to face. From the sellers of point of view, sometimes these unserviced infill lots or structures become unsellable due to Planning restrictions by the City. Before the purchaser can commit to buy the property, it's recommended that the buyer make the offer conditional on consulting various City Departments before proceeding with the purchase.

Affordable residential units should be innovative, dignified and pleasurable to live in. In the mission to build innovative dwellings, Toronto Community Housing, as the largest affordable housing provider, has initiated plans to build the first phases of new housing co-ops in Regent Park redevelopment, West Donlands and various pockets of downtown Toronto for stronger and sustainable communities.
Good non-profit housing design in inner city neighbourhoods can add aesthetic and community value in otherwise stigamatization of low income groups. Community masterplan can often save money by situating these developments in transit oriented sites, connecting existing and new homes, streetside retail along pedestrian oriented walkways, green features for energy efficiency, inter-mixing … (0 comments)
St Lawrence market has always been one of my favorite places to get fresh, in season, organic produce. Back in February 2010, five well-known architecture teams battled for winning design in the competition to rebuild the significant downtown landmark -$75 million new North Building of Historic St Lawrence Market. The City expressed that the current one-storey design is under used, and proposed to rebuild a four -storey, sustainable and energy efficient mutli-purpose urban model. A group of representatives from a spectrum of different neighbourhoods got together in 2007 with a vision to form an ad hoc committee in 2007 called People Plan Toronto. The group invites the public to identify problems with the planning process in the City, consider alternative models, and create an action plan for positive change.
