lizette realty: Terminal Renter Finally Wakes Up And Smells The Low Interest Rates!(True Story) - 01/31/09 01:18 AM
This is a confession of an 'almost' terminal renter.
I always thought I would not own a home. All my life I had been a renter.
Yes...this true story is how Lizette became a homeowner after a life time of paying rent to a landlord. What a waste that was!
My thought was that if I wanted to move, I could just pack up and get out. I laughed at friends that had a house to sell before they could move. I thought I had it made!
Odd that I thought that way, because most always I rented an apartment and stayed 5 … (12 comments)

lizette realty: A November Evening At The Kentucky River / Palisades - 11/01/08 05:04 PM
A NOVEMBER EVENING AT THE KENTUCKY RIVER / PALISADES
You don't have to ask me twice to go for a boat ride down the Kentucky River.
Especially now that the leaves are turning and the natural limestone rock Palisades are always so beautiful to behold. Some are 200 feet tall!
In this picture you can see the mirror image of the rock formation.
I grew up on the Kentucky River. I'm a former "River Brat".
It's only a few miles from my house. Back in the day, my Dad bought a boat for us to hang out on every weekend. My … (18 comments)

lizette realty: Baldwin Farm / Richmond Kentucky - 10/12/08 05:10 AM
 Baldwin Farm / Richmond KY

Yesterday was the kind of day that you wish could be poured in a mason jar like mid-summer honey to savor all winter when you want to bring back good memories.
I loaded Mom in the car and went out to take some pictures of fall foliage and landscapes while the weather stays nice in the 70's.
One place I'd never been but driven past thousands of times was the Baldwin Farm.

Nice farm with lots of shade trees....

Many kids and large spiders!

The gravel road to the top of the … (19 comments)

lizette realty: Madison County / Tates Creek Road / Valley View Kentucky - 10/09/08 02:15 PM
Madison County / Tates Creek Road / Valley View Kentucky
Every creek in Kentucky has a road beside it. Well not all but most of them do.
Kentucky is second behind Alaska for the state with the most waterways. How did the roads develop? I have to wonder if they first had Indians and settlers walking along them to get to the next settlement.
The paths became wider over time with wagons and carriages. Later were paved in asphalt to become our modern day roads.
One of my favorite ones is Tates Creek Road between Richmond and Lexington.
The trees are … (7 comments)

Keeneland Sales / Lexington Kentucky / Horse Capitol of The World
Lunch at Keenland Sales costs 3.7 million!
Well...not exactly! My lunch was $4.00 but for Mr. O'Byrne it was 3.7 million!
This happened last September, but imagine having a delicious lunch and in the room next door a live auction is underway at Keeneland Sales. What is up for sale is a beautiful Kentucky thoroughbred colt.
The bidders seem to be hidden because it's hard to tell who is bidding.I swear they must bid with their eyes by blinking because I don't see anyone scratching their nose or raising a … (6 comments)

lizette realty: Midway Fall Festival / Midway Kentucky - 09/01/08 06:44 AM
Midway Fall Festival in Midway Kentucky is the place to be in September.
This historic town hosts this event in the heart of the downtown Midway.

As you can see from this picture there is a train track that runs right down the middle of Main Street. The train from RJ Corman made it's apearance for my picture last year. Everyone stops what they are doing to point and to see!
There will be vendors seling jewelry, crafts, pottery, antiques and more. Be sure to bring your checkbook or cash. I made that mistake last year when I was only … (5 comments)

St James Art Show In Louisville KY
I can hardly believe that almost a year has gone by and it will be time once again to see all the wonderful art at the St James Art Show. This is one of my favorite Kentucky Festivals!
The 52nd annual show will be on October 3rd - 5th this year. Hopefully, we will have some cooler weather than the last time I attended. My Mom and I almost melted from the over 90 degree weather.
My suggestions for your visit might be:
Dress in something cool.
Drink plenty of liquids.
Wear comfortable shoes … (5 comments)

Loft Photography: Lexington KY Downtown Condos and Lofts
This afternoon I spent some time exploring the condo and lofts available in downtown Lexington KY.
The clean lines of contemporary and modern are really looking good to me.
There is something for everyone and the convenience of being in the heart of the city is intoxicating.
If you are looking for something new in the way of housing, there are some good buys in real estate downtown. More people are thinking of moving to the city that work nearby.

With gas prices and the cost of living it will be the trend … (7 comments)

Prime Kentucky Bluegrass For Sale: Spectacular Sunsets, Creeks to Fish In, Scenic Horse Farms and More!
BUY Land! They Don't Make It Anymore! There's something for everyone here in Kentucky.
As you can tell the real estate market is beginning to turn around across the country.
I've been reading many articles lately that many major brokerages are saying that if there was a bottom to hit... we are there now. They are predicting that sales are already increasing in many markets. Luckily in Central Kentucky where we have prime Kentucky Bluegrass for sale, we escaped a lot of the problems.

Relocating? How To Get Your Home Sold In Richmond, KY

Last fall, I received a call from Prudential Relocation to go on a listing interview for a family that was relocating out of town but still in Kentucky. I was told I would be competing with another agent for the listing. The interview went extremely well as I carefully showed them my plan on how I was going to market their home. I was so excited that they chose me to represent them and get their home sold in Richmond, KY!
I love to see how I can help put all the pieces … (15 comments)

lizette realty: Springtime Central Kentucky Tour With Relocation Clients - 04/21/08 05:20 PM
Today, I spent a lot of time on the road with some clients that wanted to look at a few homes off the beaten trail. The home tour took us through some of the most beautiful horse farms, creeks, rock formations and colorful blooming trees and flowers.
As my clients looked around each listing I wandered around and took some random photos with my razor phone.
Here's a bit of what I saw today in Versailles, Nonesuch and Nicholasville, Kentucky. On the way home I crossed over the Kentucky River on the Valley View Ferry to get back to Richmond.

lizette realty: Central Kentucky's Legendary Rock Fences - 03/22/08 04:30 AM
Central Kentucky's Legendary Rock Fences
Central Kentucky is world famous for Thoroughbred horses and endless miles of rock fences (Dry stone walls).
There are more rock fences here than any place in the USA. In Central Kentucky only 5 -10% of these 19th century rock fences built by Irish Immigrant stonemasons still stand.
These stonemasons passed their craft on to black slaves that became masters of the craft of building rock walls. This is where the term,"slave walls" came about. Since I grew up here in the Bluegrass, this is what I had always thought they were. I had no idea that the walls originated with the … (9 comments)

Madison County Kentucky Time Capsule
Where does time go??
This week I made a trip to the Madison County Court House to register my car and pick up tags. As I was walking on the sidewalk out front  I stepped on the Time Capsule!
I had forgotten it was buried there. I can well remember the Madison County Bicentennial Celebration downtown along with a parade, games and booths all around the Court House in the summer of 1986.
I will have to do a bit of research to find out what was put inside. Maybe it is a mystery to … (12 comments)
